The Little Things That Matter Most

In today’s world, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life and forget to stop and appreciate the little things. But it’s the little things that make life worth living. It is the little things that matter most. Taking a moment to smell the flowers, enjoy a beautiful sunset, or simply listen to the birds singing can make all the difference.

Snickerdoodle Cookies

I know what y’all are thinking how do cookies make this list? Well, it is not often that I go to my favorite sandwich shop, Great Harvest Bread Company, and they have their freshly baked snickerdoodle cookies in stock. So on Thursday, when Gracie and I picked up lunch for my mom and us, I was so excited to learn that they had a 6 pack of cookies, and you know I purchased them. We split the cookies with my mom. But y’all, these are the best cookies I have ever tasted. And yes, they are that big. They are huge.

Time Spent Celebrating my Sister Karen

Tuesday was my sister’s birthday, and I spent the day with my youngest and my mom driving to Wilmington to put fresh flowers on her grave. I try to visit at least once every couple of months, but if I can’t, I do make it a point to go on her birthday and the day she died. I know that her spirit isn’t there, but it is just something that I can do to honor her.

Cool Sculptures

While we were in Wilmington, we headed over to Mellow Mushroom in Wrightsville Beach for lunch. I had never been to that particular Mellow Mushroom before, and I always like to try new places to eat. And even though I have been to Mellow Mushrooms before, I took a chance that this one would be different. And y’all guess what it was. From the moment we stepped into the building and saw the cool sculptures of sealife hanging from the ceiling, I knew we were in for a treat.

Hydrangeas

In North Carolina, we are having our Indian Summer. You know that time of year when you think summer is over and fall/winter has set in, only to be reminded that summer is not done with you yet? Well, because of the warm temperatures, my hydrangeas are blooming again. I picked this bloom off the bush near my front door. Isn’t it beautiful?

My Little Allie

Allie snuck out of the house on Tuesday night to go visit her Nana, aka my mom. We normally don’t take her when we go because we feel bad about leaving Gigi, the bigger dog, at home alone. But since Gracie was going to stay home and she is Gigi’s person any way we snuck out with Allie. I think that visit did both of them some good. As you can see in the picture above, Allie and my mom adore each other.

Painting

I was first introduced to adult paint by number a few years back when I went on a retreat with my mastermind. I have done quite a few paintings since then, but this one, by far, has to be my favorite. It is the inspiration behind the redecorating of the guest bedroom, which I hope to reveal soon.

I gave my mom a painting I did for Christmas last year, and I have an angel painting hanging in my room. And I have plans on doing more in the future. They are so relaxing, and I get a sense of accomplishment when I finish them.

Thrift Store Finds

I love shopping at thrift stores. But lately, I just haven’t had time to shop, but Thursday, when I had some time to kill before we could pick up our order so, I decided to pop into my favorite thrift store. And I was rewarded with this cool case and a few angels that I got to put my sisters’ grave. I love finding out-of-the-ordinary things at thrift stores.

In conclusion, it is important to focus on the little things. The little things are what make up our lives and our happiness. Sometimes it is the small, everyday things that make the biggest difference. Pay attention to the little things that matter most and enjoy the moment.

Tell me, what little things did you notice this week?
