Appreciating the Small Moments { Weekend Wonders}
Life can be busy and overwhelming sometimes, but it is essential to take a step back and appreciate the small moments that make up our lives. It can be challenging to take a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life, yet it is at these moments when we can truly enjoy the beauty of life. Taking the time to appreciate the little things that bring us joy is an essential part of creating a meaningful and fulfilling existence.
Pineapple Street Chicken
Y’all, despite migraines and the weather, I was able to venture out a few days this week. One day I went to my favorite restaurant in downtown Goldsboro, The Laughing Owl. I met up with a friend ( you will find out who it was if you keep reading ) for lunch. This is one restaurant I never have to look at the menu because I know exactly what I want. Their Pineapple Street Chicken is the best. It has pineapple chunks, bell peppers, green beans & jalapeños cooked in a wok tossed in a sweet & spicy chipotle glaze. It is just spicy enough to clear out my sinuses. 🙂 Served with a side of fried rice, it was just what I needed on a dreary Wednesday.
My Favorite Sandwich
Friday, Gracie and I ventured out to several shops looking for particular Christmas ornaments. We also went to one of our favorite thrift stores, which happened to be by our favorite sandwich shop, Great Harvest Bread Company. We don’t get to go there often as the hours are weird, so we decided to get some sandwiches to go. They are the same place we get the snickerdoodles. My go-to sandwich is their Spicy Apple Bacon. This sandwich contains melted cheddar & provolone cheese, pecan smoked bacon, pepper jelly, and thinly sliced apples. It is just absolutely delicious.
Lunch with A Friend
Yes, this is the friend I mentioned above. However, this is an old picture. I am always so caught up in the moment of spending time with friends that I forget to snap a photo. Emily and I have been trying to get together for the past year, and something always seems to come up. Either I get sick, or she does or work calls. But this week, we were finally able to coordinate schedules and get together for lunch. I felt so glad laughing and chatting with each other.
Finding a New Coffee Shop
Black Friday weekend, my younger two girls and I ventured out to do a little shopping at a town about thirty minutes away. While we were there, I checked out a new coffee place that had opened recently. I had seen them on Facebook, and I thought they looked cool, so we went and checked them out. The Warehouse was such a cool place, check out the reel below to see for yourself.
And by the way, the coffee was yummy.
The Pillows on the Front Porch of the Blog Cabin
Y’all, if you have been following me for a while, you know how much I love my Allie. She is my little shadow, and she is a total nut. So when I was looking for some pillows for the front porch of the Blog Cabin, I knew that nothing but a Black and White Shih Tzu pillow would do. It took a little search through Amazon, but I found these, and I absolutely love them. They make me smile every time I walk to the Blog cabin to work. ( They are currently out of stock but here is a similar pillow.)
Pink Poinsettia
I love Poinsettias. When my girls were in school, I used to go into the classroom during Christmas time and teach about Las Posadas and The Legend of the Poinsettia. Did you know they originally came from Mexico? Each year hubby always buys me a poinsettia, and this year my observant daughter Gracie told him to get the pink one when he was buying one because she remembered how I admired one like it at the store this past week.
The Front Porch of The Blog Cabin
Y’all, did you know that it has been 4 years (see the reel below for a throwback) since I officially started working in the blog cabin? Since then, the front porch has had several things on it, but this is by far my favorite arrangement. I have wanted rocking chairs for my front porch for a while, but they always seem to be out of my budget. I just couldn’t see paying almost $200 a piece for these chairs. This past year, I was able to find a great deal on these at Ollie’s, and now I have the front porch of my dreams.
In conclusion, life can be full of joy if we take the time to appreciate the small moments. Taking a few moments each day to admire the beauty of nature, savor a delicious meal, or spend quality time with family and friends can bring us immense joy. We can also find comfort in knowing that although our lives will change over time, the small moments will remain just as sweet. Appreciating these fleeting moments helps us create lasting memories that will stay with us forever.
