Being Deliberate with My Time

There is nothing I love than sitting home, working on my laptop and watching a movie. Sometimes I just can’t seem to shut off my workload. I am making a conscious effort to try and do just that, but it is hard. That is why is so important for me to set priorities and boundaries in my work and personal life.

I have started putting things into motion for that to happen. I recently purchased my own tiny office and will be doing a series on how I decorate it soon. But I also have learned that I need to plan more time away from the house because when you work from home the temptation is always there to check that email or pitch a story to brand.
Sometimes it is easier said than done, but I have learned that especially during the summer months, I must be deliberate in how I spend my time when my girls are home. How do I do that exactly?

By planning outings at least once a week to do with the girls. I am working on a cool outing to Fayetteville exploring it through the eyes of 2 young adults. I recently took a trip there with some bloggers and fell in love with that city. Look for an upcoming series on that Fayetteville trip soon.

A trip to the ocean is also a must have and a plan is in the works. But trips don’t have to be far away, it could be as simple as going to the movies, taking Koda and Allie on a walk at a local park, exploring the artwork at a local gallery or even going to a museum.

I have learned it is not about the amount spent or the places you go, it is about the quality of time you spend together.
