Fun Football Themed Party Ideas Perfect For Any Party

Recently my family was lucky enough to attend a beautiful birthday party for a precious four year old little boy. Not only is Will special to our family, his parents Trey and Kalin as just as special to us as well. I was so impressed with the party, I asked Kalin to write a blog post for on this fun football themed party. She is so creative, she has previously shared her creativity in Grilling Apron For Dad.

Okay, so, I’m the mom holding on to every last little bit of baby that my 4yr old has. I’m still struggling with him telling me what he wants to wear, him wanting to play little league football this coming fall, what he wants to be for Halloween and none the less what kind of birthday party he wants. Our cousin played high school football this year so every Friday night consisted of games and Will found a new love for something other than a tractor or any other piece of heavy equipment for that matter. Our last game was this past November and he still continues almost five months later to talk about the games and constantly telling me he wants to play this year. So, when he told me he wanted a football themed party this year I was kind of relieved because I wasn’t sure what else I could do different pertaining to heavy equipment for a theme again for a third time. I immediately decided I didn’t want a specific team or anything to “growny” so I started Pinteresting.  I was so excited when I realized just how much you could do with a football theme party, I saw a blog that a mom used Kelly green and brown and loved it. While searching I saw where someone had a super cute desert table and knew right off the bat I had to have on. My little boy loves hotdogs, baked beans and pasta salad so that was on the menu for the party and I added chips and fruit. I knew I wanted to rename the food so I googled “football terminology” and came up with this:

Football Themed Dinner

Kick off– plates, forks & spoons.

Penalty flags– yellow napkins

Huddle hotdogs– Hotdog and buns in a hotdog steamer like what is used at the football games.

Blocking beans-Baked beans

Puntin’ Pasta– Caesar and a bacon, ranch pasta salad

Chain Crew Chips– Plain store brand chips

Football Boy Fruit– A watermelon carved into a football player with 04 on the front and Will on the back holding a kiwi carved into a football. A melon that was in the shape of a football with the laces carved out. All of this was filled in with Watermelon, melon, kiwi, strawberries, grapes and fresh pineapple.

False Start Fixins’– Ketchup, mustard, chili & onions

Hydration Station– Linebacker lemonade, Gatorade, water, soft drinks and brown solo cups that looked like a football

My desert table was a “Time Out” by the referee that had black and white table cloths, black and white stripped napkins and black and white plates.

Cupcake Plays– Cupcakes that looked like grass with X’s & O’s and 4/0 referring to the 40 yard line and him being 4

Ice Cream Interception- Ice cream sandwiches with wooden sticks stuck in the end of them that I had I decorated with: X’s & O’s; Go, Fight, Win; #1; Lane 04; Set, Hut!.

Turnovers- Apple Pies from Hardees

Field Goal Range Rice Krispies-  Homemade Rice Krispy treats with yellow food coloring in the shape of a field goal and homemade cocoa krispies in the shape of a football with white icing for the laces that was set inside the field goal.

Championship Rings- Ring PopsI went and bought a football with a stand and got our “Team Mates” autographs with a permanent marker. I waited until the football themed paper went on sale at a local craft store to make my name card tents. I found green and white pom poms and football field table cloths on a website shindigz.com.  I used a scrap piece of plywood sprayed it with chalk paint and drew a “play” on it that sat at the hydration station and also went and bought PVC pipe and yellow spray paint and made actual field goals that sat outside. I also threw in a few plain brown and green and white polka dot balloons.

My embroidering friend sewed him up a shirt with a green and white chevron 4, a brown football with his name underneath that matched perfectly with the colors and was just precious. Even though this party was meant to be inside/outside the weather didn’t allow but still turned out super cute and cute parties make it a little easier when your baby is turning another year older.

kalin-2-150x150Kalin is a busy mom to an adorable four year old boy named Will. She is very creative and I hope she will continue to share her ideas  with you. Not only is she very creative, she is also one amazing person. If it was not for all of her help with Mikaela’s  Quinceanera (among others) we would not have made it through. Kalin is also known as the one who took Trey away from Gracie(she has loved him since she was 3). Trey is someone we have known since he was around 6 years old. (Now he is grown up with his own family)
