Excited to Be Attending Corteo, a Cirque Du Soleil Production

Excited to Be Attending Corteo, a Cirque Du Soleil Production from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

I will be receiving tickets to attend this event.

I am so excited about our upcoming trip to see Corteo, one of the best-loved Cirque Du Soleil productions. You may remember that a while ago my family and I attended their production of Crystal, if you don’t you can read my review here. I was in awe of the performers and the fact that they could perform their aerobatic stunts on skates was mind-blowing. I can honestly say that both my girls and my husband were impressed with the performance.

And now, Cirque Du Soleil will be back in the Raleigh/ Durham area at the beginning of February, with their performance of Corteo. Here is a little bit about their performance this time.

Corteo, which means cortège in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy, and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth.

The clown pictures his own funeral taking place in a carnival atmosphere, watched over by quietly caring angels. Juxtaposing the large with the small, the ridiculous with the tragic and the magic of perfection with the charm of imperfection, the show highlights the strength and fragility of the clown, as well as his wisdom and kindness, to illustrate the portion of humanity that is within each of us. The music turns lyrical and playful, carrying Corteo through a timeless celebration in which illusion teases reality.

The concept and disposition of the stage bring the audience into a theatrical atmosphere like never seen before in Cirque du Soleil arena shows. The set curtains, inspired by the Eiffel Tower, and the central curtains, which were hand-painted, give a grandiose feel to the stage. This sets the tone for the poetry of Corteo.

The cast of Corteo includes 51 acrobats, musicians, singers and actors from all around the world.

Sounds awesome right? I can honestly say that my husband will be taking the night off from work to attend this performance. He didn’t even have to think twice about taking time off when he heard that it was a Cirque Du Soleil performance, he said yes immediately. We will be more likely be attending a behind the scenes dress rehearsal as well as the performance opening night.
