An Event to Remember- Flourish Live
A few years ago you might remember me telling you about a new mobile truck ( if not you can read it about it here) that had hit the Raleigh Durham area that was different than any other trucks. It wasn’t a food truck even though they are fantastic, it was something even better than that. It was a mobile fashion truck. I know right a store that comes to you. I know you are probably thinking isn’t that what the internet is for? But this Fashion Truck called The Flourish Market was something that I had never seen before in my life. Not only were the clothes amazing, but they were women who are given a second chance at life. Women whose lives were not valued who were taught a skill and rescued from their lives. I love stores that give back don’t you.
I am honored to say that I was the first customer EVER at The Flourish Market. Since then the business and its owner Emily Sexton has branched out. Moving from a mobile truck to a Brick and Mortar store in Downtown Raleigh to hosting events. I was lucky enough to snag two tickets to their Flourish Live event. It was a night that empowered women and a night I won’t soon forget.
I grabbed two tickets because you know me I like company for the ride. When I thought about who to bring my mind landed on my hairdresser and friend, Lisa. She is so amazing, and I have known her for a long time. We decided I would drive the Honda ( yes the Honda- my soul car to Raleigh. Knowing that the event was in downtown Raleigh, I would either have to park on the street or in a garage, and I knew I didn’t want to have to deal with parking my Acadia or Lisa’s Yukon there.
During the drive which is about an hour from where we live, we ran into a torrential downpour. You know the kind where you can’t even see your hand in front of your face. Yea that kind, you know my anxiety level was through the roof. But I was super lucky that Lisa was with me and we made it through. We got to the event with time to spare so we shopped.
The Flourish Market had emptied their whole store so that people could shop before and after the event. Emily and her tribe aka team at The Flourish Market sure know how to put on an event. They teamed up with another fantastic nonprofit group Carroll’s Kitchen to cater the event. The food was the bomb. I honestly can say I so would attend this event again based on the food alone. I was so busy enjoying the food I forgot to take pictures of it. I know blogger fail right there. The blogging police are going to come to take away my blog. ( Just in case you imagine them at my door there is no blog police ?)
But I did manage to remember to get a picture of the dessert. I mean isn’t that the most important anyway. Look at the yummy banana pudding.
During dinner, we were treated to a fashion show that included customers from The Flourish Market. I love how they incorporate their customers into everything that they do. They genuinely do care not only about their customers but for the artisans that are creating the products that they sell in their store as well.
I can’t wait until next year’s event.
