I love reading books that are set in the Amish community. It gives me a little insight to a very intriguing world. I hope to one day visit the beautiful country side to see the Amish way of life for myself but now I will have to be content to read about it in books.
A Plain Disappearance by Amanda Flower is a book just like it.Here is a brief summary of the book.
It’s Christmastime in Amish Country, and Chloe Humphrey has begun settling into her life in Appleseed Creek excited to see where her new relationship with Timothy Troyer will lead. Unfortunately it leads to murder when the couple discovers the body of Amish teenager Katie Lambright while on their first date. Near the scene there is evidence that Timothy’s friend and auto mechanic Billy Thorpe is involved with the crime. The police reveal Billy is not really who he said he was and has been living the last decade in Knox County under a stolen alias. Now, Chloe and Timothy must find Billy, bring him to justice, or prove his innocence.
I loved that this book had it all . Mystery, romance, suspense and the most important of all that it was a book I would share with my daughters to read. It was very strong on Christian beliefs and I loved that about this book. I also loved how it seemed that trouble seemed to follow Chloe to the point that she just finds herself walking into trouble without knowing it. I also loved how it should that the Amish have very strong beliefs but that they are not a perfect community that they too have to deal with strife in their family just like everyone else.
This book would be great to use for homeschooling or for a book club. In the back of the book there are discussion questions that allow the reader to really think about the book.
I give this book a 2 thumbs up.
