Crystal From Cirque du Soleil A Must See
I was given media passes for the opening night of Crystal. All opinions are 100% mine.
If I could sum up Cirque du Soleil performance of Crystal- it would be with words like Wow! Awestruck, Amazing, Jaw dropping and the list would go on. Let me first start out by saying I have never been to a Cirque du Soleil performance before so I really didn’t know what to expect but I did not walk away disappointed.
Even before the actual performance, the audience was engaged watching a small band and a jokester entertaining the crowd. I will admit that I might have even gotten hit with a snowball in the middle of winter. Yep, they were throwing snow in the ice rink.
But once the show started, you could hear a pin drop in the audience from the stunts, to the ice skating to the music this performance delivers and more. This is Cirque du Soleil’s first ice skating performance and I hope it will be one of many more to come. I love how they combined the ice skating with the acrobatics that they are so well known for.
The story goes right along with what I have been learning about myself and that is to be myself and don’t let anyone make you feel less than worthy. As you follow along with Crystal, the lead character, you see how even though she was thought as weird by her schoolmates and family she learns that being unique is okay. What a great message to send to kids’ heck even adults. This is one show that I would not mind seeing again and again.
The music was amazing and the fact they had the song Chandelier by Sia, which is one of my daughter’s Mikaela’s favorite songs. (She even got her sister Gracie to sing it with her when we went to do Karaoke.) made me miss my middle daughter a little bit more.
Interested in learning more about Cirque du Soleil’s performance of Crystal you can check out their website. If you are in North Carolina, Crystal will be at the PNC Arena in Raleigh now through August 19th (oh I need to mention that is where the Carolina Hurricanes play and when the Crystal came out with a Hurricanes jersey on you should have heard the crowd roar) and at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex from August 22-26. If you get a chance to go to see this amazing show go and this isn’t just me saying it- both my youngest daughter, Gracie and my husband, Raul enjoyed the show as well.
