upcycled fashion

I am a big fan of upcycling so when I was offered to review a book about upcycling for children, I thought that is so me. I am always looking for easy to upcycle items that my daughters wear. Upcycled Fashions for Kids, by Cynthia Anderson is just the book I need to make some upcycled clothing.  Maddie is my main guinea pig when comes to upcycling- she will wear just about anything I make which sometimes isn’t a good thing. I admit that I have had some Pinterest fails big time!!! I will have to say that this book is great for the beginners and the experienced crafters. It gives step by step instructions that are very easy to follow. The projects in this book are too cute! I can’t wait to try out some of cuties. I love how it shows how make ribbon roses from just about any fabric. There are so many of those projects I want to try but I think my favorites are the Pierrot from an old sweater and a Nightie-Night from a white t shirt. I have a trip to my local thrift store in my near future. This book would be a great book to have on hand when thinking about making Christmas presents you might have in mind. But also consider giving this book as present as well for any of your crafting friends. It would be a gift that keeps on giving.

Here is a little more about what the book has to offer.

  • 31 fun, stylish projects that can be customized to use whatever materials you have available on hand and it is great for beginners as well as experienced sewers.
  • Tips for sourcing materials, designing garments, adding details and trim, and styling the finished outfits
  • Tutorials for making fabric flowers and other embellishments

So if you are looking for some cool kid’s projects check out Upcycled Fashions for Kids, by Cynthia Anderson

  1. What a great idea for a book. Recycling/upcycling is an awesome way to use someone for another purpose.
