Breaking Bad Habits with Skinny Limits Juice #momsmeet

Disclosure: I was provided a complimentary three day juice for the sole purpose of this review. No other monetary compensation was provided. All opinions expressed are 100% mine.

The juice fad has the nation. I will first confess that I have never been the one to want to try it but when I was presented with the opportunity to – I decided why not. First let me tell you about some of the reasons why I did not want to try and then I will explain the reasons why I tried it and the total outcome. First the big one- have you seen what these juices look like. I have to admit that I am a food snob if it doesn’t look good than I doubt I will try it. I  have also seen on television  people talking about how nasty the juices were and I believed it.  Those are the reasons why I did not want to try them; here are the reasons why I did. One I have heard that they are very healthy for your body. Two, my goal this year is to become healthier so when I was presented with the opportunity to sample and take the three day cleanse challenge by Skinny Limits, I jumped at the chance.

First before I get into the juice of the matter, let me tell you a little bit about the company. Skinny Limits was founded by a couple in Austin, Texas who loved juicing. They wanted to spread their raw food passion all throughout the country. Thus Skinny Limits was born. All their juices are completely natural and raw made without any processing or pasteurization. They are made fresh to order.

I took part in a three day cleanse. During this time, I abstained from drinking or eating anything other than the juices.  I thought it would be tough especially when I am avid Mt. Dew drinker I could go through a 2 liter a day and then some. When my juices arrived, I will admit the food snob in me came out. I thought to myself why I would want to drink that when it looks like poo, especially the green juices.  Here is what my three day cleanse kit consisted of.  Each day I would drink six 16 oz. bottles of juice. Here is the list of the juices.

  • Pure & Simple (Green Juice – this is the one which looked like poo) which contained kale, spinach, parsley, cucumber, apple and lemon.  ( This was the first, third and fifth juice of the day)
  • Balance (Green Ginger) which contained kale, spinach, parsley cucumber, apple, lemon and ginger.  ( This was the second juice I drank)
  • Scorpion Lemonade which contained lemons, agave nectar, cayenne and filtered water. This was my least favorite juice to drink I had to gulp it down but I think it has to do with the cayenne being in it, I am not one for hot stuff.  This was the fourth juice of the day.
  • And the last juice was Crescent Moon. This juice contained raw cashews, vanilla bean, agave nectar, coconut oil, Himalayan sea salt and filtered water. They definitely saved the best for last on this one. It was my absolute favorite. It reminded me a lot of Horchata which is a rice based drink that I love from Mexico.

I will have to say that I thought that I would not be able to stay with it. But I am proud to say I did all three days, the juices tasted delicious even the one with cayenne it, in fact the hardest part I had about the cleanse was that each day you had to start off with a cup  of hot water and that was just nasty to me. LOL Now some people do cleanses to lose weight and I did lose three pounds, but I did it mainly to clean out all the toxins in my body. Remember I was a 2 liter Mt. Dewer a day, so that is a lot of crap in one bottle. I started my cleanse on New Year’s Day and that was also the last day I had a drink of Mt. Dew, in fact any soda whatsoever. This cleanse was the best thing that ever happened to me, I have more energy now than I used to , my blood pressure is lower and I don’t have nearly as many headaches as I have had in the past. In fact today was the first one I had in a long time. The juice worked for me. But remember a juice cleanse effects all our bodies differently. So your results may be different than mine.

  1. I am so thrilled to hear that you have more energy and fewer headaches. I could definitely use that!

  2. Good for you for sticking with it. I eat/drink with my eyes first, so it would take a lot for me to get over the look of it. I’d have to put it in a dark cup with lid and dark straw. Glad to hear they tasted good and I definitely could use help in the energy department. Thanks for the great review!
