I Survived Burn Boot Camp #bootcamp+bites
I was invited to attend the Boot Camp + Bites event. All opinions are 100% my own.

My goal for this year when I created my vision board and when I chose my word of the year Create was to envision a life better than the one I had. First let me say there was nothing wrong with my old life but with turning 50 (yes I finally wrote that) this year, I wanted it to be about getting over my anxiety, getting out of my own way and most importantly getting healthy. It has always been in the back of my mind, that I needed to lose weight, but it still sat in the back never in the forefront. I never did anything to accomplish losing the weight, ( I know I am embarrassed even to write that now.) It wasn’t until a short nine weeks ago did I finally take the leap of faith and start investing in my health. Since then, I am down 24 pounds, and with every pound dropped, my confidence has come back, and the anxiety is easing. So it was no surprise when I was invited to a burn boot camp blogger event, I accepted without hesitation.

Oh, did I mention that the boot camp was the day after I turned 50? A coincidence? I think not. I will admit that I was a little anxious about attending, but I had my good friend Cindi along for the ride. We arrived at Burn Boot Camp North Raleigh, about 30 minutes before we were supposed to be there. We walked in and saw what was going on. I had thoughts like what am I getting myself into? But honestly, I took a deep breath and dived in. Our instructor Lindsay was excellent.

If you aren’t familiar with Burn Boot Camp, it is a 45-minute workout that is different from anything out there. There are stations set up so, after the warm-up, you go to a station and work out for 2 minutes and then rotate. I was hoping that I would be able to stay with Cindi, but she moved up to the middle of the class, and I stayed in the back. Because let’s face it I haven’t exercised in years. I will say that my favorite station was the ropes. I wasn’t too keen on the medicine ball one.

I wish I could tell you that I made it through the whole 45 minutes, but I didn’t. Why you ask- well for some reason, my hot flashes have decided to make some notable appearances. So let me tell you hot flashes and exercising don’t mix in my book. So after about 20 minutes or so I had to sit down and be a cheerleader for the other bloggers working out. I wasn’t upset, but I knew my limit- and that is important you have to listen to your body and my body was telling me that I was getting too hot. I wasn’t the only one who also had to sit down.

But I can honestly say that I am proud of myself a month ago I never would have attempted any exercise let alone a Burn Boot Camp and the fact that I could last 22 minutes after not exercising regularly for so many years is a massive win in my column.

After the boot camp, we were treated to a delicious meal from Tastefully Served. That is where the bites come in. But that is a story for another day this week. Check back soon to see the yumminess that graced our plates.
I am impressed that you pushed yourself with this class! I will say I have only tried Burn Boot Camp once for a free class they offered and felt sore for about a week afterwards. It was SO hard and made me realize just how out of shape I was. I was in awe of all the ladies beasting all the activities as I was over on the side panting and hoping it was over.
thanks it was so out of my comfort zone but I am so glad that I did it
Wow! I’ve never done a boot camp but this just gave the inspiration I needed to find one and give it a try. I have fallen off the wagon with my exercise because of a back injury I had when I was doing intense cardio daily. I am ready to try again and continue on with my journey of a healthier life. Thank you!
