How to Plan a Successful Bachelorette Dinner Crawl

So it happened, one of my girls is married. ( As if you didn’t know that already.) These last few months have been a whirlwind for sure. But I would not have traded it for anything. Maddie, my oldest daughter, deserved the best wedding and bachelorette party that we could afford, but within reason, because after all, she is what I can my easy child. Easy meaning she likes the simple things in life, her favorite thing to do in all the world is to cuddle with her boys aka her cats Myelin and Helix. So she is super easy to please.

So we knew when it came to the bachelorette party she would be down for anything, which was good because since my youngest Gracie is underage it kind of limited activities. Why? Because we wanted to include all her attendants ( bridesmaids and maid of honor ) in the festivities. We threw out a few ideas, but none of them stuck until I was contacted by the Durham Hilton near Duke University about covering their hotel and then an idea took off. Since I had visited Durham before I knew there were some cool attractions there. Planning the bachelorette dinner crawl was easy, and here is why.

1.Facebook Recommendations– I am lucky that I am in a ton of groups with people who live in and around Durham, and they gave me recommendations of places to see, eat, and drink at.

2. Be Flexible– Don’t get your heart set on one place only to find that there is a 2-hour wait for dinner. We ended up eating at a Thai Place in Downtown Durham, which was terrific. I had never had Thai food before, but it was so good.

3. Walking Distance– Have all the activities within walking distance of each other. It not only allows you to spend more time with the group, but you also don’t have to worry about finding a parking place.

4. Shuttle Service– If you aren’t local, and are staying in a hotel, consider using the hotel’s shuttle service. When we stayed at the Durham Hilton near Duke University, we took full advantage of their shuttle service. It dropped us at our desired destination. To be picked up, all we had to do is call with time and location. Check your hotel to see if they offer this service, but be sure to check the time the shuttle runs. Ours ran until 10:30 pm so if we didn’t get back in time, we would have had to call an Uber.

5. Be Responsible -If you are drinking, be responsible and don’t drive. Going back to suggestion #4. But also make sure you increase your water intake, so you don’t get dehydrated.

6. Photo Opps- Along your dinner crawl, find some fantastic places for photos. We lucked out that one of the locations on our must-see list was the 21C Museum and Hotel. We got to take our group picture in an old bank vault. How cool is that?

7. Accessories for the Bride– Have the bride decked out in her bride to be sash. Why, because it is all about her and her big day. Also if you can find some unique items for her to wear for the weekend that would be awesome too. I got my daughter an “I am getting Meowied” shirt ( Story behind this idea coming soon) that she still wears continuously. She even wore it on the flight back to California after she got married. The sash and t-shirt told people just how special the weekend was. She was congratulated a lot even in the shuttle- two couples kept congratulating her. And plus, people are very generous and wanted to buy her drinks.

So you see it doesn’t take a lot of time or money to plan a successful bachelorette dinner crawl, you just need to have a good time.
