Brave: A Must See Movie For The Whole Family

Last night my girls and I attended a premiere of Brave hosted by Disney Pixar. We were treated before the show to some Scottish Dancers as a preshow attraction. I wish that I could have gotten pictures of those wonderful young people dancing but it is studio policy not to allow cameras or cell phones in the movie theaters during a premiere. So you just have to take my word for it how good they were.

After the performance we were treated to a short film called La Luna. It was so cute. It also was animated. It is all about how the moon is able to change into its phases. Three people climb up on the moon and sweep the stars away that have landed on it to make the moon go through it phases.

Then onto the movie, Brave is an animated movie. Here is a brief summary of the movie :

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. From Disney and Pixar, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition and challenges destiny to change her fate.

“Brave” follows the heroic journey of Merida, a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson).Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to harness all of her skills and resources – including her clever and mischievous triplet brothers – to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late, discovering the meaning of true bravery.
This movie is hilarious. I could not stop myself from laughing. Even my three girls who are 16, 14 and 10 enjoyed the movie. If you are looking for a movie to take the whole family too than this is one. The movie moves along quite smoothly and is filled with enough action to keep even the youngest viewer attention. I like how Elinor  and Merida learn that their way is not the only way but that sometimes it is better to met in the middle and come up with a compromise to make both parties happy.

Now here is a brief clip from the movie. Enjoy!!!!

Here is a personal note from me. To begin with I normally would not drive that far away without another adult but I felt like what we all have gone through in the last couple of weeks it was worth it. And yes it was. The movie was amazing and probably one of the better movies I have seen in a long time. Yes even better than a Mark Wahlberg film. And those that follow me know that this a big deal for me. So if you are looking for a movie to lift your spirits than BRAVE is the movie to see.
Disclosure: I received passes to the premiere for the sole purpose of reviewing this film. No other monetary compensation was provided.
