Spending Our Anniversary at Wahlburgers
Yesterday was our wedding anniversary. Although the last few years have been pretty rough, I have made a conscious effort to pray over my marriage and not let it be one of about 1000 ( I know I am exaggerating over here) that have been the victim of divorce. And I think my husband thinks the same thing as well, so when it came to celebrating our 23rd year of marriage and our 24th year of being together, I wanted something that would be memorable as well as fun.
I knew that my husband would probably balk at the suggestion to drive to Myrtle Beach for the day just to eat, but I was surprised when he said okay. Honestly, I think he wanted to test out the new car on a road trip. You know a boy and his toys. And I seriously thought that we would have to put our plans on hold because Saturday morning, I woke up at 5:30 in the morning with a confounded migraine. I hadn’t had one like this in a long time, and it usually takes me a couple of days to get over it, so I thought our anniversary plans were on hold.
But guess what, with rest and tons of sleep we were off on Sunday morning driving the three hours to Myrtle Beach to eat at WAHLBURGERS – You know that restaurant that the Wahlberg brothers own. The drive down to Myrtle Beach was uneventful, as we got nearer to our destination, I could feel the excitement rising inside me. I was finally going to eat at Wahlburgers. I will admit that I have been entirely jealous when friends would tell me that they had eaten there and seeing their pictures on social media sent it over the top.
When we walked in I was wondering are we going to have to wait for a table, because it was busy, but we were seated immediately. Once we got to the table, we, of course, had to go to the bathroom, it was three-hour drive after all. Look at this picture I snapped coming out.
I was impressed with how fast our waitress got our drink orders. And after we placed our food order, the hostess came around and asked how everything was so far. She said she was from the Boston store. She was super sweet and asked where we were from, and we told her that we had driven three hours just to eat there. She came back with some stickers for us.
The drinks were out of this world. Raul got of course beer but I got the Sangria and OMG it was so yummy. I totally should have stopped at one because I am not a big drinker, but I couldn’t help myself, and I ordered another one which Raul finished for me.
We placed our food orders, and when they came, we were impressed with the amount of food we got. Raul ordered the Triple Decker Cheeseburger with a side of fries.
And I ordered, of course, Donnie’s Fave, the BBQ Burger, but without the cheese, and a side order of crispy thin onion rings. I usually don’t like a lot of spicy food but this burger was delicious, and I could not finish it all. In fact, I had the leftovers for lunch today.
Although, we didn’t have room for dessert I did get a fluffernutter sandwich to go as a treat. Imagine a little slice of heaven on earth. It was that good.
All and all, I am so glad that we spent our 23rd wedding anniversary at Wahlburgers in Myrtle Beach, SC and I am so looking forward to the one in Raleigh opening soon. And I may or may not have gone home with the white shirt seen in the picture above.
Happy Anniversary. Twenty four years together is a great accomplishment.
A three hour drive is a long way to go, but it looks like it was worth it.
Heck, you can spend that much time doing chores 🙁
Looks like a fun time was had in Myrtle Beach!
