It’s Monster Time

I have been able to do a lot of things with this blog but I love when I get products that I can involve my children and their friends with and that also get my creative juices flowing. Watching my daughter Gracie and her friend, Payton reading Marlow and the Monster by Sharon Cramer gave me such a good feeling today. This cute little children’s book is all about a little boy named Marlow who has a monster who does not know what to do with it.  Marlow is not scared of the monster but he wants it to go away but it won’t . He does not know what to do with this monster so he searches for a solution to his problem.  I have to say that I loved this book. Not only were the words easy for elementary children to understand but the drawing were amazing. The whole book was done in quill pen and ink except for the monster who is drawn with very vivid colors.

Check out the cute pictures I was able to snap while they were reading this book with our own little monster.

This is when they first started reading the book. They took turns reading a page.

Allie says when is it my turn to read?? Seriously she laid like that the whole time the girls were reading the book.

and I bet that Monster will let me read? LOL

Here the girls are posing with the monster book and our real life monster, Allie.

Now remember how in the beginning of the post I wrote that this book sparked my creativity as well. I decided that it would be fun using this as starting point for the girls to make their own monsters. I was able to pick up on freecycle the day before a nice amount of wallpaper sample books so we made our monsters out of wallpaper.

Here Payton is trying to decide how she wants her monster to look.

If you interested in finding out more about this book or the author Sharon Cramer please check out Talking Bird Books.

And guess what you can get it free for the kindle this week only. Just go to Marlow to get yours.

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book for sole purpose of this review. No other compensation was provided. All opinions are 100% mine.
