One day while I minding my own business, well not actually minding my own business but I was asking a question about something that was pertaining to my life, I was approached to review a new book just out in stores. I love to read so I thought sure why not. I know you probably asking yourself how can being asked to review a book be any different from any other book I have reviewed. Well folks this particular author has a connection to one of my favorite places and my favorite team that longtime followers of mine will know about he is my new rep for the Carolina Railhawks. To say that someone of this magnitude would approach me to review his new book totally astounded me and of course I said yes immediately. So here is the review of Burlwood Forest by John Choquette. I can’t wait to meet him in person. But before I make myself and you sick by gushing over this great opportunity, let me get on with the review.

Here is a brief summary to grab your attention. No one came to eleven-year-old Michael Pumpernickel’s birthday party, not even his invisible friend. Maybe it’s because he’s awkward and carries a fanny pack. Or maybe it’s because he really likes school. But nothing was going right in Michael’s life, until one day, everything did. After receiving a mysterious letter, he finds himself in the middle of an unlikely adventure, the center of an age-old prophecy about an enchanted magical forest and a power-hungry fox obsessed with revenge.

Now let me tell you that I can tell this author has a wicked sense of humor, think tons of puns (no puns intended) not only did I find myself laughing out aloud more than once but I totally could picture all the events as they were taken place.

As you may remember I took this book to Starbucks with me one morning as I knew I would be waiting for a friend and I was totally surprised with how well the story flowed and how it was a quick read. The only thing I did not like about it is that it is part of trilogy and I have to wait for the next two books to come out before I find out what happens next. Don’t you hate it when authors do that to you?

Seriously folks even though this book is written for children I totally loved reading this book and can’t wait to read the next two. So if you are looking for an awesome book to read about animals and children alike then Burlwood Forest is the book for you. And guess what right now you can get it for your kindle for less than $3.00. That is another plus in my book.

Oh by the way I hope to grab a picture with the author at the Railhawks game on Sunday. So check stalk my instagram on Sunday for the picture.
