Graduation didn’t come like it was supposed to this year. Well, let me rephrase that graduation did come but not like we expected it to come. My youngest was supposed to graduate on May 20th of this year but because of Covid-19 and restrictions in the state of North Carolina graduation was postponed. But we decided to do the family celebration anyway especially since big sister Maddie already had her plane tickets to fly in from California. So we decided to hold family-style graduation.  So keep reading to see how we made graduation memorable during Covid-19.

So what did we do exactly? We planned a night of family fun while all three girls were together. The fun began with a fun question and answer interview on my Facebook Live Show “Chats from the Blog Cabin.”, a new thing that I am doing since I took a challenge (more to come on this later.)

Here is the interview.

After that, the girls ran to the dollar store ( don’t worry they wore masks to pick up decorations for our family-style graduation party. After a yummy dinner, we decided to create our own graduation ceremony for Gracie- the graduate. I love that my girls are each other’s best friends. And that Maddie and Mikaela wanted to make this day as special as they could for their little sister. After the ceremony that Maddie went as far as making a fake diploma for,  we sat down at the dining room table and played games.

Of course one of the first things we did was play cards. Because hello, I came from a long line of card players. And the brand of cards that have always been in our house is Bicycle. I can remember playing go fish with my sisters on long drives from North Carolina to visit family in Massachusetts. My girls had so much fun playing war with each other but things did get a little out of hand because hello there was alcohol involved with the older two being of drinking age. ( Don’t worry Gracie, the youngest did not partake in any of that tomfoolery). But if war isn’t your game you can always go to Bicycle’s How To Play app to find free fun, educational games to play.

So we moved from cards to a new game that Bicycle has come out with called Tattoo Stories. Think Pictionary but you have to incorporate each picture that a player picks into a tattoo. This was perfect for Gracie as she is my creative one in the family. Her paintings are amazing.

But I also have to brag about Mikaela. Her drawing skills have increased significantly since she started interior architectural school a few years ago. Maddie sadly is blessed with my no drawing genes if that is a thing.  But we still had fun anyway. We had so many laughs about the drawings. Of course, Maddie played me every time she mentioned a farm in her tattoo. She got the card.

Seriously folks, some of the ideas for this tattoos were totally out there but that is what the game is all about coming up with the best tattoo using all the elements that a person picked. I mean just look at the 5 cards and try to come up with a tattoo that incorporates all of them. You have to do some serious thinking about this game and use that imagination. The cards were pigtails, emoji, flowers, moon, and clock. And this was just one of the examples that we had, there were so many more like that.
