How to Keep Your Car Clean with Kids

How to Keep Your Car Clean with Kids from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

Y’all, my kids are notoriously messy. I swear dirt follows them wherever they go. Unfortunately, my car is no exception. If you have the same issue as me, follow this guide on how to keep your car clean with kids. With a little hard work, your vehicle will be restored to the condition it was in before you had children.

Wash it Yourself

I always wash my own car. I’ve never taken my vehicle to a professional car wash because they’re expensive and I don’t have the time. I advise everyone I know to wash their own vehicles, but I especially recommend this to people who have kids. The benefits of washing your car yourself include detailing your car to your liking and using your own trusted supplies. All my kids have allergies. So, I wash my car myself so that I know every product that’s used is safe and won’t put my children in any danger. Also, I can detail my vehicle to my liking. If I took my ride to the car wash, they might move things around, and I’d be clueless on my drive home. When I wash my vehicle on my own, I can keep everything in its rightful spot.

Establish a Clean Routine

Consistency is key when it comes to parenting. You must follow through on every rule you establish, or your kids will not listen. Keep this in mind when you’re trying to keep your car clean as well. Have your kids wipe their shoes off every time they get in your vehicle. I perform a full checkup on my children before I let any of them enter my car. I have them wipe off any mud or dirt that’s caked on their shoes. I also make sure every drink is secure and has a lid. Finally, my children know they must take any garbage inside the minute we park. If you don’t enforce this rule, trash will pile up, and your car will become a dumping ground. So, establish a clean routine. The more consistent you are, the easier your life will be.

Be Creative with Your Organization

Any parent wondering how to keep your car clean with kids needs to understand the importance of organization. I get it; life happens in your car. When you’re a parent, you can’t expect your vehicle to stay neat and tidy all the time. However, there are things you can do to be more organized, so the mess doesn’t get out of control. Keep bags in your car, so the kids have places to put things instead of just dumping them on the ground. Another innovate thought is to leave a laundry basket in your vehicle, so your children have another place to put their stuff.
