Adventures Down The Aisle: Hiring A Wedding Planner

It is Wednesday. And do you know what that means? No not hump day, but it is Wedding Wednesday. Each Wednesday from now until my oldest walks down the aisle I will be highlighting some of the companies that are helping us with the big day. Or things that that we are doing to get ready for the big day. Today it all about our amazing wedding coordinator. I almost hired her as the wedding planner, but Maddie and Lex wanted to do that. So instead I hired her as the day of coordinator for the wedding.

Why did we hire her to be the day of coordinator? Well, I have put together two quince anos they were a lot of work, and I knew that I wanted to spend as much time with Maddie on her special day so that was a no brainer. In fact, hiring Chelsy was the very first decision that we made about the wedding. And why– for my peace of mind or else I would be in the looney bin after August 21st. Yes, it is less than four freaking months away and there is still so much to do.

Chelsy and The Gathering Co was the one and only choice for a wedding planner. I actually interviewed Chelsy about a year ago for the sole purpose of writing a blog post to help promote her new company. ( A blog post that I got so busy to write – all intentions were there but the follow through not so much) Can you believe after 6 months of starting The Gathering Co she was able to leave her full-time job and make her wedding planning business her only income? And after attending the #HowWeGather Shoot a few months ago.

Fun Fact: I have known Chelsy for a while, she actually is only a few years older than Maddie and they went to school together. Her mom, Donna not only made the cakes for Mikaela’s and Gracie’s quince anos, but she is also making Maddie’s wedding cake.

But back to #HowWeGather. I was totally impressed with the little details that Chelsy and her team put together for a day where photographers could come together and shoot some weddings for their portfolios. Not really sure what to expect, I can honestly say that when I walked into Forest Hall at Chatham Mills in Pittsboro, I was totally blown away. The Gathering Co team had set up little scenarios for photo shoots. In fact, the photo I featured on this post was from that day.

It not only gave me ideas for Maddie’s wedding but also reassured me that I did the right thing when I hired them. I mean just look at these photos.
