Hoop Earrings And Other Things

This is a sponsored post.
As a mom, there comes a time where your children will leave the nest, exploring life and all the new adventures that it holds for them. Being a mom to three beautiful young adults, my heart aches when I see mommas with little ones and I think back to the time where my girls were little. Even though my oldest 2 may still look like they could still be in middle and high school- I still can’t help but be proud of how far they have come. But this particular post is dedicated to my oldest daughter. When she moved from the east coast to the west coast to pursue her dream of getting a Ph.D. I thought my momma heart would break. I am so stinking proud of her and her hubby but still, the fact I can’t just hop in the car and be at her house in a few hours is hard. But even though she is physically far away from me she is never far from my thoughts. There are little things that remind me daily of her. Simple things like getting the mail and seeing the Clematis she bought me for Mother’s Day blooming, seeing a funny cat video on Instagram ( because her boys are so freaking adorable), Facebook memories popping up, and more. But the thing that reminds me the most of her is whether you can believe it or it is hoop earrings.
I know what you are thinking. WHAT? Am I right? But you have to understand, my girls are not big jewelry people- I think before Maddie got engaged she didn’t even wear rings or necklaces. But this is one exception to that rule and that is hoop earrings. My girl does love her some hoop earrings. I recently asked her to send me a picture or two of her wearing hoop earrings. We realized several pictures later that she wears hoop earrings a lot, she probably would have even worn them on her wedding day if her future mother-in-law hadn’t given her earrings to wear. But she did wear them for all the bachelorette festivities. Don’t believe me just well here is some photographic evidence to prove it to you.
Here she is at her senior prom and would you look at that what is in her ears?

The following year was when she started dating her husband and they went to his senior prom together. Guess what goes with a little black dress? Hoops anyone?

By the way aren’t they just so freaking adorable? They actually recreated this pose for their wedding pictures. Even when she is hanging out in California where they both are getting their PhD, hoops are the jewelry of choice for grabbing some Boba.

And of course you can’t go wrong with a red lipstick and hoops.

So now do you see why hoop earrings remind me so much of my girl, who I miss so much. If you couldn’t tell what a fun loving person she is by the above photos- I will just leave you with this last one.

I honestly can tell you I that I don’t look at hoop earrings the same since Maddie started wearing them. So tell me is there something that reminds you of someone close to you. Is it a piece of jewelry, a song, a flower, or a shirt or fashion tell me in the comments below I would love to know.
