Fairview Dining Room: Fine Dining & Southern Hospitality
This Fairview Dining Room post was created in partnership with Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club.
Y’all I told you how about we were treated like royalty at the Fairview Dining Room, now let’s talk about something important and that is food. Folks, I am not going to lie these pictures don’t do the food at the Fairview Dining Room justice. Like I wrote before when we were chatting with Chef Murray, and he was describing in detail the food- our mouths were drooling. So when it came down to order and taste these culinary delights, I had a hard time deciding. But after taking a while to look over the menu- thank goodness we didn’t ask to see the wine list (which was a book by the way), or we would have been there all night. No seriously folks, we would have as it took like 20 minutes for us to make up our minds.
But make up our minds we did. I usually eat a lot of little meals during the day, so this was unusual for me to eat this big of a meal but to do it justice I suffered (LOL) through it but thoroughly enjoyed myself.
We started off our meal at the Fairview Dining Room with drinks both Courtney, and I got the sangria. It was yummy. I mean just look at it.
Then it was off to the appetizers. Both Courtney and I got the Roasted NC Sweet Potato Soup. I loved potato soup, so I thought this would be something like that. Boy was I wrong; it was so much better. I love the sweetness that this soup brought and it was great paired with the bread and cheese biscuits that they brought to our table.
I so wish they sold this by the gallon because this chick right here would buy it and stock up.
Next was the salad. Once again Courtney and I got the same thing. This time it was the fall salad. I will have to say that this tempted the tastebuds as well. However, I was not a big fan of the smoked shitake mushrooms, because I so could taste the smoke and smell it as well. But those cornbread croutons I could not get enough of, I ended up stealing some of the croutons from Courtney’s salad.
Then it was the main course, I had a little trouble there as I wanted a steak, but then I thought I could get a steak anywhere. So I went on the safe side and got the Joyce Farms Airline Chicken Breasts with Yukon gold buttermilk mashed potatoes. Folks, the chicken was so moist, and the mashed potatoes were so yummy, that my taste buds were thanking me later. I know you are thinking but that wasn’t anything unusual, but in reality, it was. I have not tasted a chicken breast that full of flavor and the fact it was served not beside but on top of the mashed potatoes made the presentation even more delightful.
Courtney however, ordered something different, and I will admit that she shared a little with me. She ordered Spaghetti Squash Cannelloni. It was yummy as well, but I am glad that ordered my chicken because folks my mouth is drooling just thinking about it as I write.
Lastly, it was time for dessert. I know what you think, you had room for dessert. Well, not really but we knew we had to try the Molten Cake ‘ALMOND JOY’. It was all that and a bag of chips. We both ended up taking a doggie bag home with us, and Gracie enjoyed eating mine the next day.
This dining experience was by far the best I have had in a while. The service and food were both fantastic, and I so want to go back to enjoy the Fairview Dining Room again soon. If you are ever in the Durham, North Carolina area, you need to stop by the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club where the Fairview Dining room is located and have lunch or dinner I promise you won’t walk away with an empty stomach.
