Escaping With Music

“Good friends bring Joy to your life. Great friends bring music.” When I saw this quote, I knew that I had to use it for this particular story. Back in the busy month of July, you know the month before the wedding, I was given the opportunity to escape for the night and attend a concert as guests of the Coastal Credit Union Music Park. In the invite, I was able to bring a friend.

I knew immediately who I would want to share this experience with, my partner in crime, Emily. So I quickly texted her and asked was she free. Mind you, I didn’t tell her why just wondered if she was free. I did you know Emily answered yes she was open and didn’t even ask why. That is the kind of friendship that we have. No questions asked most of the time.

I then told her I have an extra ticket to the Florida Georgia Line Concert with Dan & Shay. And of course, I wanted her to go with me. ( Side note: Her son was a little jealous that his mom got to go to a concert 🙂 ) We spent the next several CSA Tuesdays talking about it. Then finally, the week of the show rolled around.

On the day of the concert, I woke up with a blasted migraine. I mean seriously, figured it would happen that day. But I was determined to go even if I had to suffer the consequences later. We texted back and forth that day discussing what we were going to wear and what time we should leave. ( Figuring out what to wear is significant, because in North Carolina in the middle of July is HOT!!!! And since the music park is an outdoor arena, you can imagine.)

We left around three that day and headed to Raleigh. The parking at the arena I would say was the worst part of the whole experience. I think we were in line for 30 minutes if not more. And then we had to park in the back forty, (not really but you get the idea). But I will tell you we spent about thirty minutes after the concert searching for my car.

Because we were guests of the arena, we were able to enter through the VIP entrance. The entrance and lounge were fabulous, but the bathroom was terrific. Seriously, I would buy season tickets to the park to be able to use the bathrooms there.

Enough already about the bathrooms, let’s get to the concert. I love Dan & Shay. I was pushing for Maddie to walk down the aisle to “Speechless,” but Adele won out. The music was incredible. My favorite part of the whole concert was when Florida Georgia Line called Dan & Shay back onstage to sing their song H.O.L.Y. It brought chills to my spine.

This night out with one of my besties, Emily, was just what I needed. I needed to escape all the wedding activities, and be able to sit back, listen to some fantastic music and spend some time laughing with an incredible friend.

This concert was just what the doctor ordered.
