Coming To A Theater Near You

Have you ever watched a movie and taken notice of the actors in the background? Sometimes they steal the whole show. Have you ever wondered what these people are like in real live and where do they get those people from? Well today, I am going to share the story of one such background actor who leads a normal everyday life except sometimes she gets to be on the big screen.

Living less than 30 minutes away from me, lives an actress who makes a living doing just that being in the background on movie and television sets. When you first met Christy Malham you are immediately struck by her striking hair and stunning blue eyes.

 

I first met Christy when our oldest daughters became friends when they were starting high school. Christy is a mom of three beautiful daughters who are all at different stages in their lives, college, high school and elementary but she is also a mom who knows what she wants and goes after it.

She first started acting when she was child growing up in a military family she moved from place-to-place but she did not discover her love of acting until she landed her 1st role as the witch’s cat while she was in 8th grade and living in Germany. The acting bug bit and soon she and her family were acting. But her acting soon reached far beyond just the stage as her children got older, she started submitting her head shots to studios for bit parts. Living so close to Wilmington, or as those of us in North Carolina call it Wilmywood. She soon was cast in background scenes in some of television series. Just look and see if you can figure out which ones.

On the set of Sleepy Hollow. She has also been in Banshee, Revolution, Eastbound and Down and you can catch her on the big screen starting today in the new movie starring Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon.

See her sitting at the table behind Melissa McCarthy. But she also may look a little different in some scenes because she is supporting a blonde wig.

Even as a blonde she is sure to steal the scenes.

When Christy is not busy being “in the background” she is a loving mom to three beautiful daughters, who often times get to play along with mommy and be in the background as well, and a wife to her husband. She also acts in local plays and is very involved in her church.  But, she is also a big advocate of being healthy and eating right. Sometimes I get tired just from reading her posts on Facebook of the all the things she is doing.

But she is positive proof that even though you live in a small town you can still pursue your dreams. So look for her in Tammy at a theater near you this week.
