Busch Gardens One of Bright Spots of 2014
My family and I were part of the first official groups of Thrill Chasers for Busch Gardens Water Country USA Williamsburg. We received free admission into the park in exchange for our honest opinions on events.
Last year was a very memorable year for us but not like you would think. Between Gracie’s diagnosis of Epilepsy, the car accident and my dad’s illnesses it just seemed like everywhere we turned we were faced with so much sadness and turmoil but there were a few bright spots. And one of those bright spots was when I was picked to become an official Busch Gardens Water Country USA Williamsburg Thrill Chaser. Although I was not able to attend all the events that were held because of all the upheavals in our lives we were still able to attend a few. For just a few moments of time we were able to forget all that was hanging over us and just enjoy being a family that did not have a care in the world.
The biggest highlight was attending Christmas Town 2014, we had attended this event the year before but this year I was able to see things in a different light. Gracie fell in love and not with a boy but with a penguin named Maggie. You see Gracie has always been my animal lover, a future vet, if you will but meeting and petting a penguin was a major bright spot in her life. This came after a week of constant seizures, increases in medicine, and then the knowledge of my dad being admitted to the hospital just that week we questioned whether we should go or not but we soon realized that maybe this is what we needed just to get away for a while and we were right.
We never could have known that this once in a lifetime chance to meet and pet a penguin would make a difference in our daughter’s life. This behind the scenes opportunity are just one of the few that Busch Gardens offers during the seasons they are open. Of course the penguins are only there during Christmas Town but there are other opportunities that will offer that once in a lifetime dream and bring smile to your child’s face.
