A Fun Family Day At VIR

My family and I were invited to attend the Tudor United Sports Car Championship at the Virginia International Raceway this past weekend.

A Fun

Hidden out in the Virginia countryside is a beautiful and majestic site. The Virginia International Raceway is a beautiful facility that looks more like a farm than a racetrack.

My family and I were lucky enough to attend an event there this past weekend. This was the first road trip that we took in the “almost new” car. And it was a sweet ride according to my husband. But back to the event.

There were a ton of people there. It was a first for us. My husband and I  had only attended  a Nascar race so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. But I will say that the Tudor race was a lot different from Nascar. First because it is a road course,  there really weren’t set places to set. If I had known what it would have been like I would have packed a picnic lunch for us to enjoy while watching the race. That would have been an awesome blog post. We were able to grab a picnic table to sit at but it wasn’t the best place to take pictures as people were always walking in front of us. So Raul and I hiked down a little way to get a better vantage point and to grab these awesome pictures.

Here is a short video so you can experience the race for yourself.

Before the race, we were able to walk around and see the cars that would be racing. Some of these cars we will probably never see again . There were Porsches, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Mustangs, Hondas, Nissans, and Mini Coopers. I know what you are thinking , what a wide variety. And believe it or not, they all raced against each other.

The race was pretty awesome to watch and to listen to. Although we all had fun, I think my husband had the most fun of all. He is a mechanic so you can imagine how much fun he had.

Virginia International Raceway does not just host this race, they also host several others throughout the year. In fact, they are hosting a Nascar Series Race there this weekend. We were invited to attend but sadly we have to pass on this opportunity because we already have plans. But if you get the chance to attend a race at VIR- bring a picnic and make a day of it.
