5 Tips for Traveling with Your Kids from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

If you’re about to set off on holiday with your kids you’ve probably already come up with a few ideas as to how you’re going to keep them entertained. However, if you’re going to be on the road for a while you may need a bit of help keeping them amused. With this in mind, here are 5 tips for helping you travel with your kids, ensuring you all have a good time away:

Slow the pace down

Chances are you don’t want to rush around, and neither do your children. Here is where you can make life so much easier on yourself. Slow the pace down to one that your youngest child can deal with. Giving them plenty of time to rest and play will mean fewer tears and happier parents. Don’t rush to the airport or rush to get to your hotel as soon as possible, give yourself a lot more time. Not only will your children appreciate it, but you get the chance to relax a little more too.

Consider going somewhere your kids will love

While you may want to travel into the deepest darkest forest in the middle of nowhere, you need to consider going somewhere your kids will love. Take them somewhere special, enjoy sunny Florida and all of the attractions that the state is famous for, for example. You don’t have to spend every day at a theme park, just make sure that you take your children into account when planning your time away.

Stay in a family friendly hotel

Your children will love a hotel that has a pool, a play area, and a park, so why not consider staying in a hotel that offers all of this and more? Hotels that cater to children are usually friendlier and a lot nicer to stay in than some that don’t cater to them. You may also want to think about staying in a hotel that is within walking distance to local attractions. Not only will this reduce travel time, but it will also prevent boredom, keeping your little ones much happier.

Bring some toys and books from home

Being in a new place can potentially be quite daunting for children, but you can make this experience much easier on then by bringing a few toys and books from home. Pack their comfort blanket or bring their favorite book so they can read it anytime they want. Make up an activity pack full of crayons, games, and puzzles, and give this to your little ones to play with on the journey or when you reach your hotel.

Have a break every two hours

If you can. Try to have a break every two hours so that your little ones can stretch their legs, run around, or take a nap if they need to. Children are not usually very good at sitting still for long periods of time, so make a break in the journey or in your day and take a bit of time out. Not only will your children feel better for the break but you will too.

Use the above tips to make traveling with your kids so much easier so you all have a great time away.
