A Week of Highs and Lows and a Mom Fail

Party - Melissa - A Weeks of Highs and Lows and A Mom Fail

This past week has been a full week of highs and lows for me as a mom. The weather had a lot to do with the lows. At the start of the week, we had on our schedule 2 home soccer games for Mikaela, Mikaela’s senior prom, Gracie’s 14th birthday, a Railhawks game, dinner with our oldest Maddie, and Mother’s day. Thursday would have been Mikaela’s last home game as a Lady Cougar. Senior night is always special however major thunderstorms caused the game to be rescheduled from Thursday to Friday. Normally, that would not have been a problem, but Friday was also Mikaela’s Senior Prom as well as Gracie’s birthday. Mikaela had to choose between prom and playing in her last game as a Cougar.

Thursday night was a very emotional night for all us but especially Mikaela, because this girl eats, sleeps, and breathes soccer. After a phone call to the coach, we decided to see if her hairdresser and makeup person would mind if they worked on her at the same time so she could at least make it to the start of the game so she could be recognized as a senior. Luckily, we have a sweetheart of a hairdresser, Lisa, who totally understood and said yes that we could do that. We just totally adore her.

So before Mikaela’s appointment, I treated Gracie to lunch on Friday with the promise of shopping and dinner out with her dad and me, once Mikaela was off to prom. But sadly, I wasn’t able to fulfill that promise. As we were pressed for time, we were only able to eat lunch and then went to Mikaela’s appointment and then we left Mikaela in the chair so that Gracie and I could get things ready for Senior night as I was the parent in charge of that. We had everything ready, but Mikaela still wasn’t finished getting made up. Luckily the referees and coaches understood and delayed the game as much as possible for her to be recognized. They even allowed her to make a ceremonial first kick before she left to get ready for prom.

She was really upset that she wasn’t able to play and at first got upset about the ceremonial kick but later was glad she got to do it.

Then it was off to Senior Prom! My daughter totally went frugal for her prom. She bought a used dress and made her corsage. ( I told her that I wished she had told me that she was doing that as it would have made an excellent blog post-LOL) She was really a beautiful rose.

Sadly, with the all the hoopla over prom and senior night, poor Gracie’s Birthday got lost in the shuffle. (But don’t worry I have an idea that I am working on to make it up to her. I will let you know how it turns out.) 😉

Saturday was early Mother’s Day for me. It was the first time in months that all three of my girls have been together and the fact that it was at a Carolina Railhawks game made it even better. And also for the first time my husband actually listened to me when I mentioned I wanted one of their new jerseys. Here is a picture of my three girls and my mother’s day present. I finally have a Railhawks Jersey.

So those are my highs and low plus my MOM FAIL from last week. Huge proud mom moments and a mom fail. So tell me how was your week last week?
