Wedding Traditions You Can Skip

Wedding Traditions You Can Skip

Y’all, I’m so happy that weddings can happen again. I missed watching people celebrate their love and dancing the night away. But there are a few things I haven’t missed about weddings. Here are three wedding traditions you can skip that might even save you a little money.

Matching Bridesmaid Dresses

I can’t tell y’all how many ugly bridesmaid dresses I have in my closet. Sadly, these dresses just end up sitting there forever after the night is over. Instead of getting matching bridesmaid dresses that cost hundreds of dollars, let your girlfriends pick their own getups. All y’all have to do is give them a color palette to match and let them run wild.

Wedding Cake

The cake isn’t everyone’s favorite dessert, y’all. In fact, I’ve been to multiple weddings where the cake gets thrown out at the end of the night. Luckily, some wedding cake alternatives can help your event feel modern and unique. For example, y’all can build a candy bar where people can put together their own goodie bags. Another idea is to get cake pops that people can take on the go.

Clinking Glasses

Another wedding tradition you can skip is clinking glasses. Y’all, I can’t tell you how annoyed I’ve seen some brides get when the glasses start chiming every two seconds—not to mention, the sound is annoying for everyone else there. Rather than hitting your cups, each table should get up and sing a song to get the couple to kiss. It’s a lot more fun, and you’re less likely to get a headache—unless the room is full of bad singers.

Weddings are a blast, and I’m so glad they’re back on again. But not every wedding has to be the same. Your event will be more memorable if you break with wedding traditions. Ditch the cake and let your girlfriends wear what they want. Your wedding day will still be the most special day of your life.
