Ways to Bond with Your Children

Ways to Bond with Your Children from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

We live in a fast paced society where we are expected to work long hours, commute more and have our kids do mountains of homework or enroll in extra-curricular activities. Family time is, therefore, being relegated to the bench, and only called out when time is on our side. Spending time with our children, though, is extremely important. We want to bond with our loved ones, otherwise, family dynamics can suffer in the long-run. How can we do this, though?

Go To The Theater

Catching a show at the theater is a wonderful way to explore new interests while also spending time with our children. If they are older, then taking them to see shows such as The Crucible or Romeo and Juliet can be just as educational as exciting. However, if they are younger, then you may want to research the best kid-friendly theater shows within your area.

Heading to the theater can give you something to look forward too, but it can also be a whole experience. Take your kids out for dinner and discuss what you’re best looking for, see the show, and when it’s finished, discuss your favorite moments. Take a look online for family theater tickets, and you’ll see a wide range to choose from.

Bake

Children love to bake and experiment, and having like skills like baking and cooking and even menu planning will help them a lot in the future. Ask them what they would like to bake, but make sure it’s easy and kid-friendly.

Plus, there will be lots of leftover food at this time of the year, so you can use it in your experimental dishes without having to spend any more money on additional ingredients. Let the children work out their own recipes and menus and enjoy the results.

Rest

While this may sound counter-intuitive, taking the time to rest and relax with your kids can be enough. You and your children spend their time rushing around, but that doesn’t mean you can’t spend time in your PJs watching TV, rewatching the Harry Potter movies or building a fort out of pillows. To decide on what you do, you can vote or pick the activity out of a hat – this can work wonders when there are too many kids and opinions around.

Go Outside

Heading outside has many benefits. Fresh air can spur creativity, improve our moods and make us exercise. Spend time with your children on a bike ride, or if you want to do something new and fun together, such as horse riding, book a class and do that instead. Never force your children to do something they would hate, but this is the perfect time to experiment and make new memories. By doing so, you can all look back and reminisce over the time “They all went horse riding but absolutely hated it.”

Go outside for a walk and breathe in some fresh air. Not only will it make you feel better, but it’s good for the children to run off some steam and enjoy nature too.
