Sometimes You Just Need to Laugh

Sometimes You Just Need to Laugh from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

The title of this post says it all, doesn’t it? Sometimes you need to forget about everything else going on in your life and either go out with friends, watch a comedy on Netflix and listen to a comedian. Things have been so crazy here. Yep, I said that before, but it bears mentioning again. The wedding planning was fantastic but also a little tiring, so when I had the opportunity back in June to attend the Hot Summer Nights ( But Not That Hot Tour) starring Jen Hatmaker and Heather Land, I quickly jumped at the chance.

Mind you, I had only heard of Jen Hatmaker in passing, and I wasn’t sure who Heather Land was, but since this year is all about creating opportunities to get out of my comfort zone, I thought sure why not. For this particular trip, my trusty sidekick and youngest daughter Gracie was right there with me. I also brought along my friend Laura from 27 Words of Love, who you might remember going on the crazy Hurricane Matthew aftermath adventure with me, also went along for this adventure.

That Friday was definitely one for the memory books. While Laura drove to DPAC (Durham’s Performing Arts Center), we chatted and got caught up with each other lives. It is so sad that we only live around five or so miles from each other, but with our crazy schedules, we never get to see each other.

We arrived at DPAC, we were a little confused about where to park, so we decided to just pay for parking. And honestly, I would much rather pay for parking wherever I go because it is just a lot more convenient. This was the first time I had been to DPAC, and I was totally impressed with not only the facility but also how friendly the staff was.

We quickly found our seats and some time to take a few Usies, ( that is what Laura calls Selfies). I also got the chance to see Molly from Still Being Molly, who happens to be one of my favorite people. We were able to give each other a quick hug and hello before the show began, she was hurrying to her seat.

And then magic happened, I don’t think I have laughed so much in all my life. Even the 17-year-old, aka Gracie, who came because I played the mom card, was cracking up. There were a few times there when I thought I was going to pee my pants ( didn’t but I was close) because I was laughing so hard. It was just what the doctor ordered.

So if you ever have the chance to see Heather Land or Jen Hatmaker perform, I highly suggest that you clear your schedule and go. But also be prepared to laugh until your sides hurt, and it wouldn’t hurt to make sure your bladder is empty before the show.
