My Heart is Breaking for This Country

Yesterday I was reading in my devotion One Thousand Gifts, that the heart of the world is fractured and we all bear the fault lines. I couldn’t help but think how appropriate this line was in the midst of all that is happening in our country. If we don’t stand up to this great divide in this country then we all have a part in what is going on.

My heart aches for those that have lost their lives. I have read posts upon posts how people are scared for the lives of their children. Some of the most eloquent bloggers I know have taken to social media to say how they are worried for the lives of their sons not because they are doing anything wrong but because they are African American. My heart breaks for them as well as for the family of those who have lost loved ones, of all races.

But it has gotten me thinking, why reach let hate be our driving force? It shouldn’t sure there are bad cops just like there are bad people but when we judge one group based on the actions of a few that is where things go wrong.

I have seen some of the most amazing posts in support of all races but most importantly the human race. I actually shared one of those posts on my Facebook page, you can see it here.

We need to be one nation under God. Not one nation divided. By uniting we can stand together as one country, but divided we all fall victim to the thing that we are fighting against.

Regardless of your race, let’s all come together as one race, the human race and pray about what is happening to our country.
