Monday Motivations at WBCFAY
Wow, where do I begin? I have really been doing things out of my comfort zone lately. I told you about speaking up at the Circle Up event at The Flourish Market, but I have also taken on several challenges that in the past I would have let go by because my anxiety would have gotten the best of me. But I am learning that when I choose to stay in my comfort zone, I will never grow and that doesn’t make me happy. In the last few weeks, I have taken not one but 4 solo trips taking on the highways by myself. These trips to Raleigh ( 2x), Fayetteville, and Durham are trips that stretched me as a person for sure but also allowed me to lean into who I am becoming. That was one thing that Monday Motivations at WBCFay does for me.
I have already told you about one of the trips to Raleigh. Today I want to focus on a trip to one of my favorite cities and that is the city of Fayetteville. I don’t know how or why but I have fallen deeply and madly in love with this city and its people. So when I have a chance to take a trip there I am all for it. This time it was about educating myself and building up my confidence. I don’t know how many times I had to pump myself up when I was driving my car. I also kept repeating Phil 4: 6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
That is my go-to prayer when I drive alone. Well, that and Hedge of Protection God, a hedge of protection.
Being a blogger isn’t always about the cool trips or the cool things we get to try it is also about being lonely. Sometimes that loneliness transforms into feelings of not being worthy or negative self-talk. So when I see events like Mondays Motivation that the Women’s Business Center of Fayetteville put together I go because not only because some of my dear friends live there but also because it feeds my soul.
And what an event it was. I mean seriously when an event starts off with a statement like “ If the human mind stops learning you stop growing.” You know it is going to be a mind-blowing event.

And mind-blowing it was. Here is another snippet that was shared.
“Playing small doesn’t serve the world” – Marianne Williamson
At the event, we were asked to put on sticky notes phrases to finish these statements.
- I Can
- I Will
- I Am
I wrote that I can go to things by myself, I will write about this event, and I am worthy of influence. During the meeting Camy Kennedy a life coach spoke and taught tools to help us with creating a positive workflow. She said that the reason we don’t do the things we say we are going to do is that we don’t believe we are worthy of the outcome. She also told us to question what we are doing in business. Because sometimes the things we are doing aren’t driving our business forward. Instead, it takes on a negative effect and then we start a downward spiral.
There were so many amazing thoughts that were spoken in just a short time that I can’t not share with you, so here it goes.
- Don’t make yourself wrong for who you are
- Trying to be the right fit for everybody will do my business a disservice. Be true to who you are.
- There could be 1 million failures on a path to success.
- Don’t let failure define who you are.
And this one which really stuck out to me:
What are you willing to fail at this year? When we succeed in failing we are actually succeeding. Wow right, you can be a success at failing. Mind-blowing right? I mean seriously folks.
I would be lying if I told you that after that morning I found I didn’t struggle with lots of stuff. Because let’s face it Rome wasn’t built in a day. Because I do struggle with all the stuff that I mentioned in the first paragraph but I am learning that I can still struggle with these things but I have to push myself to get through it.
So I can’t wait until next month today, I already grabbed my ticket I am heading back to Monday Motivation. ( I grabbed my ticket the day they went on sale.) I loved the event that much and the fact that my friend Alyssa is speaking is the icing on the cake.
