As a general rule of thumb, it’s a good idea to keep items that you use on a regular basis closer to the ground where you can reach them easily.

Store items that you only use seasonally or a few times per year in a higher up places since they’re less of a priority.

4. Prioritize Safety

Speaking of priorities, safety ought to be at the top of your list when you’re organizing your garage.

Gather up all our cleaning products and chemicals and put them on a high shelf where children won’t be able to reach them.

5. Take Advantage of Overhead Space

Many people don’t realize how much overhead storage space is available to them in their garages.

Take advantage of that empty space and use it to store bikes, tools, and other bulky or awkwardly shaped items so that they’re out of the way.  

6. Use Pegboards

For garage tool storage, pegboards are a great option.

They make it easy for you to hang up tools and organize them so you can see everything you have available to you.

With these, you won’t have to waste precious time trying to sift through a toolbox to find a particular hammer or drill. Everything you need will be right there on the wall waiting for you.
