Making Crafts By Reusing Items

I am a fan of using and reusing items. I am always glancing through magazines to see what can be made cheaper than what it sells for. Unfortunately, my husband and I do not always see eye to eye on this subject. He sees me walking towards him with a magazine and he thinks, “What does she want me to make now?” He has good reason to think that. One day I was looking through a home and garden magazine and I saw a picture of a chaise lounge and thought, “He can do that!” So off to him I go with the magazine. I asked, “Could you make a chaise with the pallets from work?” He did just that, and now I have two chaise lounge chairs to sit on during the spring and summer months.

Later, I saw a pumpkin door greeter in a Halloween catalog. I showed him the picture and guess what I have now? We have been blessed to have “Candy” for several Halloweens.

The last thing I want to share with you is “for the birds.” No, not really, I just love saying that. But they are birds. I saw these birds at our zoo and wanted to purchase them but did not want to spend what they were asking for–about $30-$40 dollars for each bird.  We decided to make our own, so each of these birds cost less than $4.00 to make. Many thanks to family and friends for saving their bottle caps for us! Here are my birds. My husband still has to make two more so everyone in our family will have one.
