Jamming With The Monster Trucks

Tonight my family and I will attending the #Monster Truck Jam at the PNC Arena in Raleigh. All tickets are available at the PNC Arena Box Office, Ticketmaster Outlets or by calling 1-800-745-3000.

If you are like me Monster Trucks are not a sight you see everyday. I think the closest I have ever been to one was watching it onscreen. The movie Herbie Fully Loaded first introduced me to the Monster Truck phenom.  I love Herbie the Love Bug. That is why when I was given the opportunity to go and review this show I jumped on it. Like I have said before this blogging adventure has made me step out of my box into a whole new world and I love it. More about that later right now let’s learn more about those Monster trucks.

Did you know that most of the designs for these trucks started out as a styrofoam model that is then made into the real thing using fiberglass? They are not as heavy as you think either.  And also that the driver’s seat is neither on the left or the right but in the middle to help with the weight distribution. And that the paint jobs on most of these trucks takes 40 hours or more to finish. ( That is a lot of painting.) Drivers uses a five point harness system when they strap in for safety. It is almost like they are babies in a car seat. The best part of the trucks besides the paint jobs are the tires. Did you know each one is custom made?? They have to be 66 inches high and 43 inches wide to fit these trucks. That is a lot of tire. Tires are expensive so I would not want to footing the bill for their tires. The average team goes with 8 tires in one year. I imagine it takes a lot for one tire to get a flat.  And guess how long it takes to make one of these tires ??? 50 HOURS!!!!!!

Another cool thing about Monster Jam, is that they use cars from local junkyards for their events and after the event is over they return them. What a great way to reuse old items!!!

So if you are looking for something to do this weekend.
