Out of the Fire and Into Fulfillment

This is the third in  the series about ordinary people who are doing extraordinary things. I am calling this series Leaps of Faith.

Imagine if you will, a marriage that is beyond repair, the woman instead of confiding in her husband all her anxieties over her life and their life together turns to another man for that emotional support. Does that situation sound familiar to anyone? This is the situation that my dear friend and the subject of my next leap of faith profile found herself in. Beverly Week has guest posted several times on this blog writing the midweek moment. Her story is one of renewal and faith. Not just her faith, but the faith of husband who refused to give up on the love of his life and stood for his marriage.

Beverly’s story is not by all means a new story but it is how her marriage has become an example for others to follow. You see like the first sentence, Beverly had an emotional affair with another man. In doing this, she made someone else other her husband her first priority in life. It wasn’t until her husband, Rick drew a line in the sand and stood for their marriage did she finally agree to counseling. It was at the point where separation papers and separate households were already being established.  But in one last ditch effort to save their marriage Rick turned to another couple whose situation was similar to theirs for spiritual guidance.  Who knew that later in their life they would end up teaming up with this couple in marriage ministry? Yep folks that is right. Beverly is one of the most devout Christians that I have met. Now don’t get me wrong she is not one of those that want to turn everyone to Christ. She just knows like Kasey does that God is holding her in His hands and He will protect her.

Recently, I was able to sit down over breakfast and chat with Beverly and her adorable daughter, Macy. Macy is just too cute for words. Sitting chatting  with Beverly we  talked about how God is moving her life and the challenges of her new job. As she telling me her story her eyes filled with tears.

I have already told you that Beverly and her husband, teamed up with another couple in a marriage ministry. For more information about that check out Intentionally Yours. Starting that ministry was a leap of faith on Beverly’s part. She left a full time job because she felt the call of God into ministry. Leaving her job created a financial crisis for her family. Rick was able  to provide for them but there was not any money left over for all the extras they were accustomed to. This was hard for Beverly, seeing her children react to the situation broke her heart. She prayed for God to place her in a job that will allow her to place her family first. Well folks, I am here to tell that God does answer prayers it may not be at the time you want Him to answer but He does answer. Beverly took speaking engagements and cleaned houses to help with the money issues but she never lost faith that God would place her in a wonderful ministry job that would be empowering to women.

Guess what folks over a year after she quit her job, Beverly interviewed for a job at a Pregnancy Care Center. When she went in and interviewed the first person she saw was the lawyer who represented her husband during their separation. I don’t know about you folks but I would have taken it as sign and probably would not have gone through with the interview. But Beverly knew that God was with her and she went into that interview a little nervous. They asked her why she wanted this job and she shared with them her story of her marriage and how it almost ended in a divorce all the while looking at the attorney. She compared her marriage to Lazarus in the Bible. If you are unfamiliar with Lazarus, he is the one that Jesus rose from the grave when he was buried for 4 days. She said “That her marriage was Lazarus in the grave three days stinking dead” and God restored it to what it is now.  She also went onto tell them that she hated what her family went through but would not change the storm because it gave her a closer intimacy to God. How cool is that?

Seriously, folks if you ever get a chance to meet Beverly she will have you at ease and laughing with  her southern charm. I mean really folks who else would admit that at one time they would have  rather been at T.J. Maxx shopping than to have sex with her husband. Yep folks she is a character.

Oh and by the way Beverly was given the job that she interviewed for and she is the new director of the Wayne Pregnancy Care Center. Look for a post about this wonderful organization soon.

So what trials have been you been through lately? Have you turned to God and stepped out on Faith or have you blamed everyone for your circumstances allowed the devil to take a hold of your heart. Whatever your circumstances He does hear your prayers? As Beverly so eloquently put it “God got her that job.” She had to go through the fire of an almost divorce and losing her job to be in the awesome place she is now.  She says that “No matter the situation as long as you are breathing there is hope.”

I am very proud to call her one of my best friends.

If I can leave you with just one quote it would be this Bible Verse.

“You have caused men to ride over our heads;

We went through fire and through water;

But You brought us out to rich fulfillment. “

~Psalms 66:12

See God will fulfill your needs you just need to ask and be patient.
