Hawaii The Original Fantasy Island

I have been a big fan of Hawaii Five-O since I found out that Alec O’Laughlin from The Back Up Plan was starring in it. It is the highlight of my Friday nights. Don’t laugh, I am old. From the first episode, I was hooked, the characters, the storylines, the mentality, and but most importantly, the beauty that is the island that makes up our 50th state, Hawaii the original Fantasy Island.

Just watching the show every weekend, it gives me a glimpse into what living or visiting there might be like. I have never been lucky enough to visit, but when my dad was still alive, my parents made several trips there. And they said they would totally move there if they didn’t have grandchildren to watch grow up. So that got me thinking of all the amazing things that Hawaii has to offer a visitor or even a new resident. I will mention some things, but if you want information about real estate, you will need to check out Real Estate and Living Hawaii.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of any place I would want to visit is Pearl Harbor. I can just imagine how I would feel standing on the dock and looking out into the harbor, knowing that this is where so many soldiers lost their lives when the Japanese bombed us.

The second thing would be the beaches. You know I am Cancer ( astrological sign), so being near the water just soothes me. And I have heard that Hawaii has some of the most beautiful beaches anywhere in the world. And talking about beaches, just think about how beautiful and romantic it would be to stand with your special someone as the sun rises and sets. Just picture perfect for sure.

And now that we have gotten beaches out the way let’s talk about all the beautiful nature that surrounds Hawaii. If you are hiker, there are plenty of places to hike and camp out. And while you are walking, you are sure to be treated with plenty of wildlife as well as exotic flora and fauna.

And if you are a history buff, there are plenty of things to see as well. You can climb the Haiku Stairs to the top to take in the view. Or you can visit in the city and find neat historic landmarks like Iolani Palace, which is featured on Hawaii Five-O. It is their headquarters.

And let’s not forget about all the places you can take tours. You can do a helicopter tour and see all the islands you might not have time for, or you can just pick and chose to tour a few places. I know I would want to visit a pineapple plantation. I love me some pineapples.

Even if you aren’t the active type, I know for sure one thing that we all need to do, and that is eat. I have seen luaus on television, but I have never yet experienced one. So this would so be on the top of my list. And of course, I would want to learn how to hula. Remember these past few years have been about wanting to experience new things. Learning how to hula would certainly fit into that category.

And my mouth is watering just thinking about the cocoa puffs, Loco Moco, and of course, the malasadas. This is the one place that people won’t think you are weird if you order pineapple on your pizza.

And one last thing that I love about the great state of Hawaii is that you get a lei, made from fresh flowers and are greeted when you land. Flowers are such a part of my love language.

Hawaii is one state that is definitely on my list to see in the future. It is a state, like my home state of North Carolina, that has something for everybody.
