6 Great Experiences in Bali Your Kids Don’t Want To Miss

With plenty of beach clubs and bars, Bali is an excellent destination for adults. However, there is a great variety of kid-friendly activities too. Our little friends will never be bored here, and in fact, there are a number of things that they may not want to miss out on. If you are bringing your kids to Bali, here’s a list of must-do experiences.

1.Enjoy the beach

A trip to Bali is not complete if you don’t spend at least one day by the beach. The kids will definitely have a blast playing with the water and the sun. Not all beaches are calm and swimmable, though, so I’d recommend checking out Padang Padang beach in particular. It’s known to be a great spot for families.

2. Learn to surf

If your children are the sporty type, be sure to enroll them in a surf lesson or two. You can easily find many surf schools along the beaches in Seminyak and Canggu. Usually, after the first lesson, you will already learn how to balance on the board, and after a week of lessons, you will get the basics to be able to practice by yourself. The rest will depend on your own effort. Who knows, your kids may discover some new interest!

3. Enjoy a magnificent sunset

The sunset show in Bali is world-class. Kids or adults, anyone can be mesmerized by the magical moment as the sky changes colors. If you are on an adult-only trip, head to a beach club, relax on a bean bag and enjoy an ice-cold Bintang as you indulge in the feast for the eyes. But since there are kids, head to Made Bagus Cafe in Jimbaran, where you can fill your stomach with sumptuous seafood as the sun goes down. Since Jimbaran is close to the airport, you may also spot an airplane landing in the middle of the twilight sky. A lovely, unforgettable scene indeed!

4. Check out the Campuhan Ridge Walk

If the kids are a bit older and enjoy stunning nature view, you can take them to the Campuhan Ridge Walk in Ubud. It’s a lovely, easy nature trek that brings you closer to fresh mountain air and the lush valleys. The path is straightforward, and along the way, you will pass by some local cafes to rest and recharge your energy with some snacks and drinks. It can get quite hot during the day, so the best time to visit Campuhan Ridge Walk is early morning or late afternoon. For the gram, though, I’d suggest going in the morning.

5. Explore the Monkey Forest

There’s one thing for sure: kids are fascinated by animals, especially wildlife. When you are in Ubud, be sure to arrange a trip to Ubud Monkey Forest. Your little ones will love to be in close proximity with the animal. Watch out for your belongings, since these naughty monkeys can snatch your bags, handphones, sunglasses, etc. when you are not careful.

Learn about the Balinese culture

There are over 1000 temples on the island, and every household in Bali has one. Religion is a crucial part of the Balinese life, and you will surely see the canangs (flower baskets) during your trip. The kids will also be curious about this, so it’s a great time to learn something about a different culture. You can bring them to Uluwatu Temple, a cliff-side majestic temple with breathtaking views. There is a daily Kecak and fire dance which will fascinate kids and adults alike. It’s a very interesting cultural experience. I highly recommend it.
