GP: Fashion No-No’s For Professionals

In a perfect world, clothes shouldn’t be used as a yardstick for judging people or their abilities. However, that is not the case in this world. Thus, whatever you wear to work is automatically taken as an indicator of your abilities and how you feel about your job. It is taken as a reflection of how seriously you take your job.
Thus, like it or not, appearances matter. So, even if you wake up feeling like hell one morning, you just cant throw on anything you feel like and traipse right in. So here are a few things that you should never ever wear into work.
1. Ditch those Crocs and Uggs
Come on, this one was surely a no-brainer. Yes they are slip resistant and protect your feet from all the evil bacteria crawling around. However, you wear Crocs to the beach, or around your house. These are not for the office. There are some high fashion shoes by Crocs though, for those who cannot live without it.
The same goes for Uggs. Ugh. Yes, they are cozy and rug like in the winter. But they go well with pajamas, and not pinstripes. If you really want to wear boots, go in for leather boots. You get comfortable flat ones as well.
2. No scrunchies
If you want to take good care of your lustrous locks, go visit http://www.coolblades.co.uk/ salon supplies. Don’t wear scrunchies because they were last in vogue during the 80’s. Wearing them in your hair makes you look outdated. The same goes for bows and ribbons. Those were in fashion the last time women wore ballgowns in Victorian England.
Go for elastic hair bands, bobby pins, clips, headbands and so on. All of these do the same thing that your scrunchies does, hold your hair back.
3. Cut down the bling
Unless you work in an office of gangster rappers, there is no excuse for the bling you’ve been piling on. Tasteful jewelry is good, but not when you clink with very every step you take. So, you need to calm down with the bracelets. It is also very distracting in the workplace, so have mercy on your colleagues. The same goes for the millions of necklaces.
Go in for a single bracelet, or one necklace. That way you have your cake and eat it too. Keep it minimal and all will be well.
4. No spandex or bold leggings
Unless you do acrobatics or stretch for a living, both of the above are inexcusable in office. Whether you wear these under a skirt, or worse as pants, it’s not professional at all. The worst ones are the leggings in bright colors, zipped hems or both. However, you can go in for tights whether opaque or sheer. These have a polished look and do the same things as leggings.
5. Leather pants are a no-no
Are you a budding rock god? Or a Hell’s Angels biker chick? If the answers are no, then leather pants are a no-no for office. It doesn’t give you the professionally edgy look, if that’s what you are aiming for.
6. Sequins or fashion suicide
Again, keep calm and no bling. If you really want to wear sequins, let it be a small detail on a blouse which is otherwise plain. The usual rule of thumb is to never wear more sequins than can fit on a postcard.
While clothes do create an impression, never look like you are trying too hard, whether with your clothes, hair or accessories. For professional hair styles, look at websites like http://www.coolblades.co.uk/
