Boys and Girls Club Celebrations This Week
I was compensated to write this post about National Boys & Girls Club Week, but all opinions are 100% mine.
Is there a local Boys & Girls Club in your neighborhood? There are two near where we live. My oldest daughter Maddie has had a chance through a program at her school to volunteer there. She fell in love with the kids there immediately. She came home with a new outlook on life and could not stop talking about all the programs that they do there. Are you aware that they are more than just a babysitting service?? They give so back to the community and ask so little in return.
This past week was National Boys & Girls Club Week. Even if you did not have a chance to check on in person you can take a tour online. . Yep that is right they offer online tours of their programs.
On each day of the past week they spotlighted a part of their program.
Monday, April 8 – Open the door to education.
• Tuesday, April 9 – Open the door to technology.
• Wednesday, April 10 – Open the door to character and citizenship.
• Thursday, April 11 – Open the door to healthy lifestyles.
• Friday, April 12 – Open the door. Take the tour.
The whole theme behind this week was to Open the Door, Take the Tour. And folks you can do this online on their website. I was so impressed with all the programs they have to offer the youth that attend. Before my daughter started getting involved with volunteering, I had the misconception that the Boys & Girls Club was just for sports. It wasn’t until I investigate more that I found out how many wonderful programs that they offer. They teach character and citizenship as well as assisting with homework. That is how my daughter became a volunteer- she was a tutor for younger kids. She would sometimes listen to them read or help them with their homework. The smile on her face is well worth her time spent there.
I wrote this review while participating in a campaign for Mom Central Consulting on behalf of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. I received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
