Tips to Help You Battle Those Winter Blues

With winter comes that cold weather and during this time most of us suffer from the winter blues. I know I am one of them. The weather does not cooperate with outside activities so there is really not a lot of social interaction during this time. Because sometimes the winter blues can get the best of me I have found some ways to help battle the winter blues. I hope they help you as much as they have helped me.

  • Exercise- try a form of exercise that you might never would have thought of doing before. For me it is my boxing class but for you it might be something else. Studies have shown that activity level reduces stress and helps to boost your self esteem.
  • Take a few minutes every day to distress- Whether it is meditation or a 30 minute bath give yourself some little TLC (Tender Loving Care)
  • Think like a child and act like one too. –  Play a game, get crafty or just plain be silly. It will help you relax and get a better handle on this winter blues.
  • Have a party for no reason. There is nothing better than time spent with friends and awesome food.
  • Drink more water- Mild dehydration has been linked to bad moods so make sure you are getting enough water.
  • Sleep- make sure you are getting enough rest because if your body is tired you will be as well.
