Be Like Dolly – My New Crush

Y’all, I have developed a girl crush. ( Cue Little Big Town singing Girl Crush -don’t worry if you haven’t heard that song before. I will post their video at the bottom of this post.) But Dolly Parton is my new girl crush. I know you are probably thinking, have you been hiding under a rock all these years who doesn’t love Dolly? Yes, I know who Dolly is, and I have sung along to several of her songs and loved that the song “Jolene” is in one of my favorite television shows, Hart of Dixie– George Tucker has to sing it to Tansy’s dog Dolly Parton. I thought it was funny – but there wasn’t a crush. That was until I went to Nashville on one of my many adventures did I fall in love with everything Dolly. I mean, why wouldn’t someone want to be like Dolly? She is the most genuine person and funny omg, funny. (Author’s Note- if you have time go on Audible and download her book Dream More– it is so hilarious, and Dolly is narrating, so her sense of humor is shining through. ) So with that said, here are some ways you can be like Dolly.

First let me start by saying that Dolly Parton is a beloved and iconic figure known for her talent as a singer, songwriter, and actress, as well as her warm and generous personality. If you aspire to be like Dolly Parton, here are some qualities you might consider:

• Talent and Passion: Dolly Parton is known for her incredible musical talent and her passion for her craft. If you want to be like her, focus on developing your skills and pursuing your passions with dedication and enthusiasm. Did you know that she wrote I will always Love You as a farewell to Porter Wagner after leaving his show? And that Elvis wanted to record it, but she said no?

• Authenticity: Dolly Parton is known for being true to herself and embracing her unique persona. Embrace your own authenticity and let your true self shine through in everything you do. ( Seriously, put all the wigs and makeup aside. She comes across in every interview as the same person)

• Kindness and Generosity: Dolly Parton has a reputation for her generosity and philanthropy. Find ways to spread kindness and help others in your own life, whether it’s through acts of charity, volunteering, or simply being there for the people around you. She started the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in her hometown to help children learn to read before entering school, and now it is a nationwide program sending millions of free books all over the country.
• Work Ethic: Her success is a result of her hard work and perseverance. Cultivate a strong work ethic and be willing to put in the effort required to achieve your goals. Not only does she sing and write songs, she also has Dollywood, and she even co-wrote a book with James Patterson, Run Rose Run. This book is currently shelved on the to-be-read section of my Kindle.
• Positive Attitude: She exudes positivity and optimism. Try to maintain a positive outlook, even in the face of challenges, and inspire others with your optimism.
• Sense of Humor: Dolly Parton has a great sense of humor and doesn’t take herself too seriously. Learn to laugh at yourself and find joy in life’s lighter moments.

Remember, while it’s great to admire and draw inspiration from someone, it’s important to also embrace your own unique qualities and forge your own path. Be the best version of yourself and strive to make a positive impact in the world, just like Dolly Parton has done.
