Affordable Vitamins You Need for the Winter Time and Beyond

If you think you can do without vitamins during the winter time because they’re too expensive, think again. Not only are vitamins pertinent for your health, but they are actually quite affordable as well! If you plan ahead and buy them in bulk from places like Target, Walmart, or a site that sells quality vitamins like Seven Seas, you’re paying less than a dollar a day for outstanding vitamins that will help your body use its antibodies to keep you healthy throughout the winter. Here are some vitamins that you can find in a multi-vitamin and it’s important to learn how they each help your body through out the winter time and other seasons too.

Vitamin C – You’ve heard the rumor that vitamin C prevents colds and the flu, but in all reality it does not prevent these viruses from attacking your immune system. Instead it acts as an antioxidant that protects your body against viruses and other severe health issues such as cancer and heart disease. The recommended dose of vitamin C is 40 milligrams a day for adults and 25 milligrams a day for children. Besides just getting it through a multi-vitamin, you can get vitamin C from green vegetables, fruits, and even beans!

Vitamin A – Just like you’re prone to injury during the spring and summer due to a lot of activities, during the winter time you’re still prone to injury – especially if you have active kids! That’s where vitamin A comes in place. This vitamin is important for repairing tissues that your kids need for their development and growth. It also helps strengthen your immune system and helps you maintain excellent eyesight. Find vitamin A in milk, egg yolks, fatty fish, tomatoes, mangos, and more. The recommended intake for vitamin A is 600 micrograms for women and 700 micrograms for men, however don’t take over this amount because it can be toxic.

Iron – To maintain a lot of energy during the winter time you need enough iron. Iron is essential for the formation of your red blood cells, which carries oxygen around your body. Keep up a positive intellectual performance and energy level and to make this happen iron can be found in many food sources. Eat plenty of red meat, bread, eggs, and dried fruit, which are some forms of food that have iron. Women should have 15 milligrams for and men 9 milligrams.

These three vitamins are all important nutrients that will keep you happy and healthy during the winter time. Even though you’ll be taking vitamins doesn’t mean you shouldn’t eat healthy food as well – combine a healthy diet with important vitamins and you’ll maintain a healthy mind and body!
