5 Simple Ideas for Your Weekly Date Night

When you’re married, making time for each other is always important. It doesn’t matter if it’s been five years or thirty, having that quality time together can be a vital part of life. But if you’re trying to keep the budget down and you want to keep things simple, here are five ways to do it.

1. Do an Old Fashioned Movie Night

First of all, you could think about doing an old-fashioned movie night. Dim the lights, pop the popcorn, and pull out all of your favorite movies from when you were younger. If you love watching movies, you could even get a projector, especially for the nights you choose to do this! Bonus points if you go for any of the classic Hollywood movies to make it feel even more authentic!

2. Take Turns in Making a Dinner Reservation

If you like to do a date night out at a restaurant, you may want to try to shake things up. Even if you tend to like the same places, you could each take it in turns to make the reservation. That way, you can surprise your spouse! You could try a new bar and grill nearby for something casual or go all out and book a fancy dinner. The best part is, you won’t always know what’s on the menu when it isn’t your week to pick!

3. Go on a Nature Walk

Another really sweet option is the idea of heading out on a walk. This can be something different that you do each time you think of it. It might be a hike in the mountains, a gentle walk in a local woodland or nature reserve, or you could even do a walk on the beach! The best thing about this date idea is that you can even pack a picnic and enjoy a little date lunch together. It can be such a nice way to spend quality time together.

4. Book a Classic Activity

There’s also the idea of doing a classic kind of date activity. Maybe you love to play golf, or you haven’t been bowling in a while? You could also think about going to a local fair like you did as sweethearts, trying water or winter sports, getting a sporting lesson, or even doing something like going to the movies. There are lots of classic and low-cost activities that you could look to do as a date together if this is more your style!

5. Pick a Card

Or, if you really want to make things feel fun and exciting, you could try this instead! Each of you write out some fun (but simple!) dates that you’d like to go on, writing each idea down on a cut-up piece of card or paper. Then, when you’re done, fold each small piece of card up and add them to an old jam jar, bowl, or small bag. Each week, you can take turns in drawing out the date idea! That way, it’s always a surprise to you both, and you get to work through a range of ideas that you both want to do.
