Tips for Making Your Home Tidier
Having a tidy home is very satisfying. There is nothing better than coming back after a hard day at work to a tidy space that you can relax in. When it’s not, when it’s messy and untidy, you know it is in the back of your mind and dread coming home, which is not a nice feeling as it’s the place you live.
If you haven’t been on top of your home for a while or are trying to find a way to make it tidier, know there are many things you can do – often it’s the case that you haven’t thought of that idea yet. For example, using smarter storage options often helps and using a house cleaning service is a lot more affordable than you may think, so getting them in to help can also help.Â
Below we have put together a brief guide on three tips for making your home tidier.
Start with one room at a timeÂ
A good place to start is one room at a time. The main reason for this is it makes getting your home tidier a lot more manageable and less overwhelming. A lot of people, when they tidy, do every room at once, which then creates a huge mess which they can’t finish. Start with the area you use the most, whether that’s the kitchen, living room or bedroom. Breaking things down into smaller tasks makes it much easier to stay motivated and actually see progress.
Be smarter with your storage options
You may think you have your storage under control, but in actual fact, when you start researching it, you’ll quickly find there are so many smart options, which you have never thought of. For example, one tip we never thought of is that if you have children who love puzzles, instead of keeping all of the bulky puzzle boxes that take up unnecessary space, you can place the pieces into labelled plastic sleeves or zip-lock bags instead. They are much easier to store neatly in drawers or baskets and can instantly free up cupboard space while still keeping every puzzle organised and easy to find.
Don’t let the laundry pile up
Doing the washing is a boring task and something that more often than not is put to the back of your mind for another day. The problem with this, is the more laundry you have, the messier it gets and it slowly gets out of control. Try to keep on top of it by doing smaller loads more frequently rather than leaving it all for one day. Folding and putting clothes away straight after drying them also helps avoid creating extra clutter – having washing out always look messy.Â
