Whether your little ones have run out of pencils and notebooks or you decided to hit the books yourself and go back to college, when it comes to stocking up on school supplies things can add up unless you are doing it right. Doing it right means knowing where and when to get the best deals.

Most parents go shopping for school supplies before school starts, and there are always some great deals during this time. However, if you didn’t get enough supplies you’re going to want to seek out deals during different times of the year as well. Here are some tips that will hopefully help.

Try Shopping Wholesale

There are wholesale shopping options online, you don’t even need to be a business to use them. This is a great way to find larger and pricier school items that normally cost too much in the general store. You can stock up as well, which is great for anyone that has multiple students in the house, whether they are in elementary school, high school, or even college.

Buy In Bulk

Get a membership at a place that has bulk items. There are plenty of options, depending on where you live. Think Costco or Sam’s Club. In these places, you can get great deals on bulk purchased items, including foods for lunches.

Remember that you want to buy the stuff that will get used in bulk. If you’re getting more of something than you’ll actually need (or use before it goes bad in the matter of food items) you’ll be wasting money.

Hit The Dollar Store

Hit up the local dollar stores, whether they are a dollar store that actually sells items for one dollar or they are a discount store where you can get the stuff you need for a few bucks. While there are some things you’re better off buying at the big box stores, there are plenty of items you can get for super discounted prices through dollar stores.

Shop Online For Deals

From coupons to sale prices, you can get great deals online, whether it’s back to school time or not. Not only can you get good deals through coupon codes, but the internet offers many different ways to save money. You could buy bulk with Amazon, or even get Amazon Prime and save money on shipping.

Part of your online shopping time should also be spent looking at ads for the stores you are considering shopping at.

School supplies, especially for college students, can also mean big purchases like laptops and tablets. Knowing when the best deals on such items are can save you a ton. You might even want to consider doing some black Friday or cyber Monday shopping when you’ll get amazing deals on electronics and more.
