4 Privacy Options For Your Home

4 Privacy Options for your Home by North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

When it comes to your home, different people expect different amounts of privacy. So, depending on what you are looking for with your specific situation, there are a number of options to consider. If you live in a home that is closer to other buildings, you’ll obviously have more potential for people to be around, but even out in the countryside, there are things that you can do to keep prying eyes away.

Several privacy options that you can consider would include putting up blinds and shades, installing some sort of privacy fence, using some sort of light from securing products on your windows and doors or even just adjusting your landscaping so that people can’t look into different places of your house.

 Blinds and Shades

Probably the easiest privacy option that you have is to put up blinds on all of your windows. This is typically a pretty low-cost option as well, and there are a great number of decorating possibilities. Whatever the theme of your room is, you can choose blinds or shades that match with it in terms of color and texture, and then not only will you have privacy, but you’ll also have a better-designed room.

 Fences

If you live in a neighborhood where people wander around a lot, you can put in a privacy fence along the border of your land in order to keep curious people from seeing more than you want them to. This can be a little bit of an expensive option, and it doesn’t have the best aesthetics necessarily if you don’t purchase the right kind of fence. In fact, the wrong kind of privacy fence can be quite an eyesore, which is why purchasing one of them needs to be a practical and well thought out decision.

 Light Obscuring Products

Another option for you to maintain a little bit more privacy at home is if you purchase some sort of light-obscuring product. One common and popular option is a kind of transparent but translucent sheet that goes over the window. It usually installs by sticking right onto the window and still lets light in, but people can’t see any concrete shapes from outside of the home. In terms of cost, some of the basic ones are very reasonable, whereas some of the more luxurious looking barriers can start getting up there in terms of price point.

 Landscaping

And then there is the natural option. That basically means that you can put up trees, bushes, or other plants that prevent people from peeking in your windows. You may have to have a pretty big tree in order to do this, but in terms of privacy, it’s hard to beat having an evergreen tree between a window and a sidewalk. Some thought should go into the landscaping process, but the results can be quite spectacular as well as functional.
