Thoughts on Watching a Sunrise

Thoughts on watching a Sunrise by North Carolina lifestyle blogger Adventures of Frugal Mom

There is nothing that is better than ushering a new day in. I will admit that because I have trouble falling asleep at night I tend to not be able to see the sunrise. But during the summer on Tuesdays, the morning I would have to get early to work for the CSA program at the farm, I was amazed by the beauty of the sunrise.

Sunrises represent a fresh start. The worries of the day before are left behind and we are renewed in our resolve that this new day would be better. Because after all, tomorrow is another day.

And add in a beautiful location for a sunrise and you can’t help feeling like today is going to be a better day. Picture this, you are walking along a beach in the early morning hours maybe walking your dog or searching for shells along the beach. You can even just sit in the solitude of the morning and the calmness you see the sunrise over the water. What a beautiful site that is?

Not a beach person, well then imagine you are sitting on the deck of a mountain cabin enjoying your morning cup of coffee and you see the sunrays peak through the mountain tops. You sit there quietly contemplating the beauty of nature.

Beautiful, right? But you don’t have to be in an exotic location to be able to enjoy a sunrise. That is the beauty of it. Sunrises are available to everyone and there is no cost to watch the colors unfold as the sun wakes us up for another day of life. The only thing it costs us is time. Time to slow down and stop and enjoy the beauty that we all take for granted.

So, tell me when was the last time you saw a sunrise? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Beautiful post Melissa! I can’t remember the last time that I woke up to watch a stunning sunrise. Especially living at the beach, I should probably get on that!

  2. I love watching the sunrise but I don’t do it nearly enough!! The last time I watched a full sunrise was actually by accident when I was in Myrtle Beach at a conference way back in March. I arrived really early to check the room setup and then stepped outside and noticed the sun glittering over the ocean. It was so beautiful it almost made me cry! You’re so right about the symbolism of a fresh new start with the sunrise. I love this post – great reminder to get up and watch the beauty sometime soon!

  3. I know I don’t do it enough either. I am going to make it a goal to get up at least one day a week to check it out.

  4. Beautiful post! I’m naturally a night owl, so when I’m at home I usually stay up too late and miss the sunrise. I do catch the sunrise sometimes though when I go climbing before work, or if I go for a long run while the sun is rising (mmm those are the best runs, though it’s not the most relaxing way to watch a sunrise!). When I’m backpacking or if I’m at the beach something in my brain changes though and I become a morning person and I’m always up for the sunrise. That early morning glow and being up and moving before everyone else is the best experience <3
