Things To Consider When Dressing for Summer Weather

I get so excited for fall and winter to roll around for two reasons: the holidays and fashion. The looks and trends constantly change, and we can’t wait to get our hands on them. But those aren’t the only dress-to-impress seasons, y’all. There are plenty of looks to create for the summer. We just need to be sensible. Here are some things we must consider when dressing for summer weather.

Keep It Light

I always try to stay away from the dark side during the summer. It’s time to let some light in, y’all! Stick to light and neutral tones for your wardrobe. You can have fun with wild patterns because summer is the best time for them, but stick to lighter tones.

Lighter tones don’t absorb as much sun as dark colors, making them ideal for hot days. They reflect the sunlight and some of the heat that goes with it. So go for white dresses and linen tops and pants.

Avoid Certain Fabrics

Consider linen the official fabric of the summer. You don’t need to wear only linens during the hotter months—you can also sport cotton. However, there are some fabrics you should avoid. Clothing made of polyester, nylon, or acrylic may look nice, but they’re not your friend when the temperatures are high.

These types of fabrics don’t breathe, and they leave no room for a nice breeze to pass through. Leave these fabrics for autumn and winter.

Layer Sensibly

Yes, layering is typically a style you see only during fall and winter, and it always looks so trendy during this time. You can layer during the summer, but you have to do it sensibly. Obviously, you won’t wear a sweater on top of a flannel with a scarf.

There are so many different layered ideas for the summer that I love, and you will, too. Consider wearing an open breezy shirt over a matching set. If you want to combine patterns with light materials, add a couple of kimonos to your wardrobe. Throw them over two-piece sets or body suits, and watch the look transform.

Combine Function and Form

During the summer, it’s all about being cute while remaining comfortable. As moms, we are always on the go, especially during the summer. The kids are active, and we need to wear the right gear to keep up with them.

Throw in some workout clothes as everyday outfits. Who says we can only wear biker shorts when we’re biking? Biker shorts are perfect for when you need to move. And the material may be tight, but the fabric isn’t stifling to the skin, so you won’t sweat too much.

You always need to consider the temperature when dressing for summer weather because you never want to heat to distract you from having a good time. Consider some of my ideas for dressing for the warmer temperatures, and you’ll make it through summer in style!
