I have to say that I was quite impressed in this summer read called the Apocalypse Cult by Alex Siegel. The first thing that comes to mind about this book is that you can not judge a book by it’s cover. Just look at the cover and tell me what you think?
But if that does grab you just read the brief summary of the book.
APOCALYPSE CULT is the first book in the Gray Spear Society series. They are God’s secret warriors, His henchmen, His assassins cloaked in shadows. When lives and souls are at risk, He sends the Gray Spear Society to save mankind. This time the enemy is the Church of One Soul, a cult that intends to kill thousands of unsuspecting tourists in Chicago. But this is merely the first step in plunging the world into a devastating war. The Society has only a few days to destroy their elusive foe, despite interference by overzealous federal agents.
This book has a little bit of everything in it. It has action, a little romance (between Aaron and Marina), intrigue, suspense and faith. In my opinion, this is an amazing book. I never in my life could of thought up the story that God had his own soldiers that worked behind the scenes with the mentality that the mission must be completed at all costs. I was very intrigued by this story. I have always heard about cults who brainwash their follows but had never read a story that was centered around this concept. Personally, I loved the characters in the Gray Spear Society , because unlike me they were willing to give up their old life to help protect and save others. Often times losing their own life in the course of this protection. I will have to say that my favorite character was Marina. She was given a very awesome gift. She had fingernails that were poisonous. She could control when the poision came out and how much. Think about how awesome that would not to kill somebody but if you were in a unwanted situation you could just put the person to sleep to escape. How cool would that be?
This is a definite two thumbs up in my book. Check out this book on
